Has anyone tried to change the download site on USAPhotomaps?I went to the Microsoft TerraServe zone, and looked. I couldn't believe my eyes! There is now full-color, .25m resolution, aerial images there-and four years newer!!Here's a comparison:http://terraserver-usa.com/tile.ashx?t=1&s=10&x=2128&y=23194&z=16] Plain, old, boring b&w at the turntable in Provisohttp://terraserver-usa.com/tile.ashx?t=4&s=8&x=8514&y=92778&z=16] Vibrant, color, zoomed-in aerial image of the same turntable! It is like night and day! You can accurately see the switches, tracks, and even what kind of cars on them! Now, my question. Has anyone tried to change the source that USAPhotomaps downloaded from to newer aerial images? How is it done, and what is the URL for them? Thanks! METRAUP

David, that look interesting. As for changing the interface in USAPhotomaps, I don't think it is that simple. The actual interface is not in your PC. It is at the USAPhotomaps site. I suggest you contact them and see if it is possible.Do you know if the new color photos are available for the entire USA or just limited areas?Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, OR (My email is in my profile)Columbia Gorge Route (Phase 2-- Started)

This is really cool. Apparently it's not available for the whole US, because the areas I'm working on are still the 1 meter/pixel resolution. The guy who wrote the program, Doug Cox, updates it frequently, so you should probably just contact him. I think where the program downloads from is hardcoded into the software, and any changes would have to be made by the programmer himself.Mark

The same Hi-Res Ortho data is also available on the USGS Seamless Data website:http://seamless.usgs.gov/I suspect you'll find it there before Terra Server gets it, since it's the USGS folks who are stitching things together. New areas are added every couple of months, and some of the older Hi-Res images (non-downloadable, or yet converted to the new format) can be viewed for other areas too (Los Angeles and surrounding counties, for example).Cheers!
