Colleagues,The "S" trestle on the NP at WillowCreek near Dorsey, ID has been completed. It required over a million lineal feet of timber, which denuded the nearby slopes of timber as you can see, LOL.In fact, when it was built the first time, circa 1890, it did require almost all the available timber around it and pictures taken right after it's completion show a view, not unlike what you see, except it was in B&W.This kind of structure would be impossible without the aid of Ron Picardi, who has figured out the intricacies of TSM quite well. Almost all that you see here is transparent textures, lots of them. Each texture is tiled a number of times to coincide with the number of 15' panels in the verticle bent. Tallest Bents are 105'.In the real world, this trestle was held in great respect by train crews. It had a very noticable sway to it as trains crossed, some accounts say as much as 5 feet, but I doubt this. Pranks were played on new crewmembers, and one was almost tragic, when, as the GP-7s with a new brakie on board started across, and the swaying began, the engineer said "well, there she goes", and the brakie would have jumped (probably to his death) if not physically restrained. It was replaced with a switchback in 1960, and downloaders will find a noticable groove along the hillside toward the southwest, which is how DEMEX/seamless DEM extracted this ledge or embankment.J. RE: RMD-4, "S" Trestle completed, slopes around it-----

I very much appreciate your comments. I am now working on a smaller trestle about 1.5 miles further up the hill toward Lookout Pass. One sketch I have indicates that the next trestle after "S" going up the hill is the Dorsey trestle, made famous by many photographs, but mileage values of 3 miles below the summit, put it further up the hill. Since nobody really knows anymore (or cares), I will put the station for Dorsey where it seems most likely to be.There are two or three small trestles on the east slope, but the Borax loop is the main point of attraction there, not really a loop, more like a bow-tie in shape, with a short tunnel #3 on it. There are two tunnels on the mainline of the NP that is in this sim, east of St.Regis, and these are nos. 1 & 2 of what was originally the Wallace Branch. In 1902 or so, the cutoff between St.Regis and Paradise was constructed, and it has 3 or 4 tunnels on it.Jerry
