How do you delete an object when in RE?? Are there more than one set of rules that depend on what it is that you want to delete??i.e. Roads & Buildingsin the F1 Help it says you select it and then press DELETE key.Nothing happens!! "Ignorance is Repairable" "STUPID is forever"

When in the RE, select the object(house, tree, etc.)by left clicking on it. To make it work you must have the button selected that has the "arrow going thru the houseroof", it is located in the "MODE" window. If you have it selected, the object you put your arrow over should turn red. When you click on it, It will turn the object into a transparent wire frame. Then just delete it using the "delete" key. It should disappear. Then make sure you "save" after deleting it.
Thank You for your response!I stumbled on that during my wee hours investigation of the route. I bought the Sybex book initially but it don't have that much in it dealing with the questions that keep building up on my list.Do you have any recommendations for reading material on RE as well as other aspects of MSTS??I can't rebuild the database in RE because of an error I get 'remove_end_end one non-vector, one vector'I just went into a section of it in Explore Mode and turned on the Comapass wrote down the Lat & Lon -- Escaped out of it and went into RE and put in those coordinates and I end up in VIRTUAL SPACE looking at a BRIGHT LIGHT when I rotate with mouse. I see no LAND and my Lat which is Lat 41.86715; when I do the jump the Lat changes to Lat 00.00000000000 ????Butch is my name 38 is the year I was born...
Butch, Throw the Sybex book away. Got to this link;http://www.abacuspub.com/From the links on the left, click "Train Simulation" and get the "Route Building Guide" by Mike Vone. Third one down, on the left.Best money you'll spend on a guide to the complexities and quirks of RE. Hawk
Last night I heard an old freight whistle blow, as I was sleeping warmly in your bed-And it told me "Boy, it's time that you was packin' up to go.", but I smiled and shook the leavin' from my head.
Yes I have my eye on it and it is suppose to be a PDF that you can download if my tri-focals were showing me correctly. The downside is they are closed over the weekend so Monday is the soonest I can make a transaction to get it...Thanks though ever so much for your feedback.
I may be wrong, but I didn't see anything that said they will be closed until Monday. Of course, I didn't go through the whole check out process, since I already have it.Yes, it is a .pdf that can be downloaded.Hawk Edit 1: BTW! On that same page is an "Activities Guide" by Rich Garber. Another excellent manual if you want to create activities.

Butch, before you can DELETE an Object you got to press F2. After that every object or track you place the Mouser Cursor over turns RED, Dynamic Track excepted.Left-Clicking once changes the RED object display into "Wire Frame Mode". Hitting the Del then will make it disappear, but beware, there is no UNDO function ?Do not EXIT the RE unless F2 is turned off again and no objects show RED !
If you can not see the contents of the locations you moved the Camera to then you have probably given it incorrect co-ordinates. The best way to do that after the RE opens, showing you it's "Start" tile, is to press HOME, enter the correct co-ordinates and click on O.K., but do not press ENTER, which does not work as it should ! O t t o
That is really cool -- thanks for the tip on the HOME key... As for the NO UNDO feature -- I think I have prepared for that I have 2 HD's one 30GB and one 120GB that is partitioned into varying sizes of 5 partitions and have two different MSTS trainsim's saved on 2 different partitions plus on the 2HD. In the original installed never edited state. I use a BASIC Install of all routes off the MSTS CD's which I also have copied to 2nd HD and do fresh installs from that hard drive to the big one and don't have to mess with changing CD's.Thanks again for all of the suggestions and help.Butch
Good strategy, Butch !That's exactly what I do, except than my internal disk is 120 Gb and so is my external USB-2. Plenty of protection should something go wrong ! Doing a Back-Up right now. Has been running for over an hour so far !Take Care, O t t o.
I have that on my ROUND TUIT list of backing up to DVD's which currently take about 2 but with the new routes I have purchased and some that I have downloaded I have a feeling it will be 3 this time..Thanks ever so much for your helpbutch
