Something else – image 1

Sorry for posting a picture story in this forum but I think this is more of interest to route builders and track makers than others.Ohh, this looks dangerous. Better get Emma out of the way.
Something else – image 2Good thing there was trolley track here!
(even though Emma could have just stepped out of the way)
Something else – image 3Getting ready for a roll-by inspection.
Something else – image 4Nice engine by Jon Davis.
Something else – image 5Ore cars ...
Something else – image 6More cars ...
Something else – image 7Even more ... okey you get the point.
A Tioga Pass helper and caboose on the end.
Something else – image 8Back out on the track again continuing our stroll.
Something else – image 9This is a little by-product of something else I'm looking at (won't say what that is).
Not limited to Stegosauruses. Would even work for one of the leading Mallets or the Decapod
helper with tender but looks better with a small engine like a Speedster or trolley.
Tried signaling which would be needed for activities but gave it up (I don't know much about signaling).
This will be something for the signal experts to look into. That is of course if there is any interest in this?

RE: Something else ...

May I ask you a question somewhat unrelated to the story? Your camera seems to be able to go much further from the train than mine. I'd like to do that to get shots of trains running on cliffs on the WPYR. It seems to be an edit to the camera cfg file. My brother got it to zoom in very close, but how do you back up that far?At first I thought it might be in the RE with everything well placed, but there's no compass and the locomotives all have smoke.

Jeff, you missed the point!
I'm using the original camcfg without any modification.
That green animal you see in the foreground of all the pictures is the engine I'm driving (G&D #13 Emma, released to the file library). The ore train with two Mallets up front and the Decapod helper is an AI train.
Shoots are taken in one run in MSTS, no tricks with placing things in RE. Emma takes a sharp 90 degree turn onto the trolley track to let the ore train by then afterwards returns back onto the main line and continues her walk.

RE: Something else ...

Yea! Like Vince said.
90d turnouts? Hawk

Last night I heard an old freight whistle blow, as I was sleeping warmly in your bed-And it told me "Boy, it's time that you was packin' up to go.", but I smiled and shook the leavin' from my head.

Intriguing. Wouldn't have anything to do with functional turntables or transfer tables ultimately would it?Does that setup permit backing out to head back the way you came?

Fascinating!!!
How does the turn look? Does the dinosaur "turn" or does it dissappear from one track and apprear on the other? Thanks!

I'm not a route builder, but it is interesting.I watching to see how it was done. Thanks for doing Emma by the way...I miss John Allen's whimsy and the G&D in general.Having failed at several attempts at prototype routes, I sometimes wonder if a model route might be a better idea...But then the Pennsy calls to me one more time and I start laying markers to Pitsburgh again.Frank MusickMoving America into the 19th Century!

RE: Something else ...

In my MegaCoaster route, I have several 90-degree turns in sequence (not turnouts, just extrtemely sharp curves obtained by rotating the next track section by 90 degrees). Trains turn infinitely fast there, and the couplers have a very hard time... After a few such turns, MSTS crashes.Okrasa seems to be on to something very intriguing here!
