(Calling Ron Picardi and Michael Vone!) I think I inadvertently shrunk an object in the RE to approximately one fifth of its default size. The object that was shrunken is Ron Picardi's 540-foot bridge, filename "OC540ftArchTrussBridge.s".I placed two copies of the truss bridge end-to-end in my route in order to meet the length of the crossing that the two megastructures are to bridge. I also laid a unique piece of track (7-metre straight) onto the end of the straight track that is to form the long crossing, solely for the purpose to manually extract its QDirection line to overwrite the counterparts of both truss bridges within the corresponding world tile. I learnt this trick from Michael Vone's chapter on rotating an object (Chapter 3.10.4) in his Year-2002 version of his route-building guide. It seems that Ron's 540-foot truss bridge (filename "OC540ftArchTrussBridge.s") has its centre of rotation offset, for when I went back into RE both copies of the bridge appeared somewhat perpendicular to the track that's to be supported. So I tried experimenting with the four data comprising the QDirection line, for Michael's guide does not mention how to rotate something by precisely 90 degrees. I chose to limit my experiments to only one of the two copies of the truss bridge. On my third attempt (experiment), I'd fiddled with the last one of the four QDirection data as follows: this fourth datum had a value of minus 0.793337, so I took the difference between it and the value of 1 while keeping the negative sign in the resultant value, i.e., I wholly replaced this datum to read minus 0.206663 instead. I re-saved the world file, entered the route in the RE, and was astonished to see that my tweaked copy of the bridge was one fifth of its oroginal size.So I fiddled some more (manually edit world file, re-enter RE, view progress, re-enter world file and manually re-edit, etc., etc.) changing the second-occuring datum in addition to the last-occurring one. No luck.So I made a copy of the regular-sized copy of Ron's truss bridge within the RE, and then manually fiddled with its QDirection data to try to get that dead-on, perfect alignment with the track. Upon re-entering RE, the shrunken copy was back to its default size; I did not change any datum to that shrunken copy, I confirmed this by reviewing the most recent, backed-up version I'd made of the corresponding world tile.Have I been missing out on something? Do you think my fiddling around with the data to the QDirection line actually caused the one copy to shrink?! I'm puzzled, the discovery's really baffling. Does anybody have any idea what triggered the shape to become shrunken, temporarily?Three screenshots of both the shrunken and regular bridge trusses now follow.Cheers,
goonybird
