Due to the recent interest in the CSX M&M route, I am writing to inquire about how we might go about fixing the bug that causes cars to uncouple on long stretches of track between switches. (This is how it was explained to me.) I was told that by inserting "invisible" switches on long stretches of track between working switches, the bug can be defeated. If this is the solution, how do we go about getting it fixed. I realize that we need the permission of the author, if we can get in touch with him. Some of the folks running the route in multiplayer sessions are having a hard time in certain spots. I would like to make the route even more enjoyable by getting rid of these bugs. Thanks,Lee P.S. If the route's author sees this, please respond.
Well I was told to slow down to about 15 mph at Chapman (where the break point is). It qorked one time, but after that it never worked again. So all that can be done is to use eng mod and change your break values. All who do not know how to do this, we can all get a channel going on teamspeak and I can walk you all through it if you would like. That really is the only option I see.
Actually, you don't need anyone's permission, as long as you're not going to distribute changed versions of the route. "Invisible" switches are actually 0 degree switches that are in the XTracks package. You can install 2 of them facing each other so that the blue poles go away, so that no matter which path is taken, you stay on the mainline. I don't have the M&M, so I don't know if it's already requires XTracks or not. If not, it's probably not worth installing it just for the 0 pt switches.I've installed several of these in my Cumbres Pass route with no meltdowns yet. This is a mod of the "completed" route, with all mileposts, sidings, platforms, and crossings in place. It doesn't have any signals, though, so that probably makes it less likely to completely corrupt the track database. If you're going to try making the change to the route itself, make sure you've got the original ready for handy reinstallation, or even better make a backup of the route first.Andy
Hi Lee !One option is to check the DAMPING values of all your Rolling Stock couplers and amend them with ENGMOD.PLAINSMAN and SWISSIE are some of the experts on that subject ! Do a search for broken couplers in the MSTS Forum and select and. O t t o
Lee,as coincidence will have it, both PLAINSMAN and SWISSIE answered a similar question here: http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID3/23369.htmlO t t o
While we're at it, could the the siding length at Brewton be fixed? It's a couple thousand feet short of the advertised timetable length. Bradley Linda Waco, Texas
