I have downloaded and installed the RMD2 route along with its patches. I have found that I get a hard red signal for my player train wherever the NP and Milwaukee Road tracks cross. I tried adding an AI train on the other road and found that this also stops at the same crossing. Is there something special that I need to do at these crossing points to get permission to go?Bob

RE: RMD2 Crossing Problem

The only thing I can think of would be to just remove all the signals at Sinclair and Sappington, and I am not sure that would accomplish anything. The problem is that MSTS (and for that matter TRAINZ as well) do not provide for interlocked crossings at grade. Those signals should perform similarly to block signals which is all they really are.J. H. Sullivan

RE: RMD2 Crossing Problem

The Lehigh Valley route has a crossing of the CNJ and the Lehigh Valley at mm 121. It is somewhat different than the case in RMD2 in that the track can be switched to have the crossing take place or not. However, I have found that this crossing seems to work very well. I have tested it with a Player train and an AI train meeting there at about the same time. Whichever one was created first seems to get a Green while the other gets a Red until the first one passes. This is independent of which road has the Player or AI train.I am not a route builder and do not know what kind of signalling they used, but it does seem to work very well.Bob

RE: RMD2 Crossing Problem

Jerry, on the nec4 there is a crossing at grade on the spur that leads to the Maryland Light Rail BWI station. This crossing is protected by six two head absolute signals.
I tested many combinations of player and AI traffic interactions and in all cases one of the trains will get a proceed while the other gets a red/red. After the crossing is cleared the waiting train gets a proceed.I'm not sure of where this rumor of crossings=crash came from but in all my testing if the crossing has a track node, the signals and AI behave prototypically.
Of course laying two tracks that cross without a track node invites disaster.

RE: RMD2 Crossing Problem

The crossings at Sappington & Sinclair are nowhere near the standard crossing angles in MSTS, so I laid two tracks that cross - ergo, disaster waiting to happen, but this was the first posts that I have seen (or received E-mails) where there was any problem with it.J. H. Sullivan

RE: RMD2 Crossing Problem

Jerry, if you look at the Activity Fourm under Sappington Crossing, there is a post in addition to mine where the author had a problemBob
