Colleagues,A few weeks back, I completed all of the tracks on the RMD-4, and starting working on roads. I had completed all these as of this past Sunday.Tonight, while putting in a river, I noticed a BLUE POLE where none should be. It is right at the juncture of two straight pieces. Following a suggestion in this forum, I place a tree right on the blue pole, and then went into the world file and found the tree. There was a 50M straight piece almost exactly at the tree. Okay, delete this from the world tile after backing up same, and now I have database lines across the gap, but no blue pole.Deleted all the relevant database files, after backing up same, and ran a rebuild - should do okay, no interactive or track objects in place yet, and won't be for quite a while. Rebuild runs for about 10 minutes, then I get a message about vector-non vector, and the tile is not the one where the blue pole is, and then the "send don't send".I checked a few backups and the Blue Pole has apparently been present for a while, but I have created a number of activities through it with no apparent affect. I don't use X-tracks or the new Roads. Therefore, should I just ignore this thing, as has been suggested in one thread. As a precaution, I deleted the paths on two routes, and redefined them both ways through this area - no problem. Then I did the same across the tile where the vector-non vector occurs and there is no problem there either. Usually, when I have had corruption before, I would also get a broken path error in AE.One of our colleagues claims to find "matrix" in an entry related to a blue pole in a world tile, but I have no such.Seeing Advice.J. RE: RMD-4 -- TROUBLE, need some thoughts-FIXED

With the magnificent help of Dave Nelson, and perusing a number of old posts, mainly by Andre Ming, I was able to fix the problem. It turned out that there were actually 5 situations, only 2 of which caused a blue pole. All, however, were places where there was an inappropriate piece of track bridging from an adjacent tile. In two cases, it was a piece of dynamic track, so I made a slight deviation so that the boundary was crossed by a fixed piece. Another case was a 500m piece starting in one tile, crossing the corner of another, and then ending in a third tile. Since I could select the piece, I just deleted it, and replaced it with 5x100m pieces.
Then a successful rebuild was done, AND THEN A FULL BACKUP OF THE ROUTE.J. H. Sullivan

Thanks for sharing that information with us! Any successful removal of the dreaded rogue blue poles is a cause for celebration, IMHO.It almost makes me want to take another look at the moribund route that I have. Maybe I will.Take care,Henry

You should be aware, in case you didn't already know, that tdb rebuilds are not road-friendly. I have had numerous cases on Columbia Gorge where I had road corruptions following a tdb rebuild.Cal Rasmussen

Jerry,
I've also found that when I get the vector non-vector error message. If I jot down the coordinates and delete what ever I find at those coordinates, then replace the piece and save all seems well again in the RE world Take care,

RE: RMD-4 -- TROUBLE, need some thoughts-FIXED

Well, when the vector-non-vector stuff appears when you select a piece, that has worked for me too, but in this case the error occurred during a rebuild and the process stopped at a particular tile.Yes, I am aware that it does not always work so well on roads, but unless I find problems there, I won't worry about it. The .rdb file had the same size before and after, so I will HOPE it is okay.Jerry

RE: RMD-4 -- TROUBLE, need some thoughts-FIXED

Yes, that is when I have found most of my vector non-vector errors is during the rebuilds. What has always worked for me in the two routes I've had this problem, write down the coordinates were the rebuild stops. Go back into the RE, delete the piece, replace the piece and save. I'm not guaranteeing this will work in your case, but has worked for me Are you performing the rebuilds before placing signals? The reason I'm asking, is I got zapped by doing a rebuild after placing signals. I found all my signals needed relinked Take care,
Rich S.
P.S. I've been running RMD-2, you have done an excellent job with this route

No signals on it yet -- I wait till the very last thing to put in signals, mileposts, gantries, and anything else that relates to track (or roads). The rebuild was successful, after I corrected, in essentially the way you mention, 3 errors that turned up on rebuild. None of those errors was causing any grief in AE, but black dots were appearing where there were orphan blue poles. Thus, 5 errors in all, fixed. To fix the last one, I relocated about 1/2 mile of track, but since it was in an area that was not clear on either aerials or topos., I had largely guess at the route anyway.Cal mentioned that rebuilds were not "road friendly". I am not much worried about that. If I discover a road problem, I will just remove the offending piece, probably do a rebuild, and then put a dummy road piece in to connect the ends.J. H. Sullivan
