RE: Cheez! It's the COPS!

I originally had the structure ready this past tuesday, but then something burped while I was in TSM and the thing suddenly looked as if someone had sprayed it top to bottom with white paint. I got it reskinned and here it is. I also tried to make one of those old style wire trash bins for on the corners of the sidewalk, but it didn't look right so I "trashed" it. I also couldn't come up with a street lamp that looked right either, (Maybe on a future version). Anyway, the next project on the boards is the "Celestial" an old style movie palace. Enjoy the cop station and maybe I'll make a donut shop to go with it.Don"Emma, use your power!"

Oh, one more thing. (Do I sound like Jackie Chan's Uncle?)Anyone know where I can find a early 1900's vintage "Paddy Wagon" to park out front? What with the drunks over at Seamus Murphey's and the women holding sufferage rallies in the park, the cops in Beecher get a real work out!"Emma, use your power!"

Speaking of "re-skins",this nice looking building could be one of the Carnegie Libraries which were so prolific in the 20's-40's..
(Andrew Carnegie donated millions to communities across the country and had an achitectual team design a utilitarian, efficient building for libraries and they were all basically identical).Ergo:Carnegie Library...

RE: Cheez! It's the COPS!

The Carnegie Library is on the list but someplace behind the Celestial Movie Palace and a Bank buiding for Beecher. As for the Celestial, I dug around in some of the texture folders for my FS2K2 aircraft and found a bare metal texture I'm going to try on the stainless steel "Trim". I also located a nice Art Deco image that I'm going to use for the big stained glass window on the front that would shine into the theatres lobby. (I saw something similar in a 1930's era photo of an actual movie palace and thought it was neat.) The building also has a pair of searchlights on the front corners, anyone know if it's possible to animate them complete with the beams sweeping across the night sky?Don"The policeman's job is not to create disorder, the policeman's job is to preserve disorder"

RE: Cheez! It's the COPS!

Thank's Ken,Originally I was going to have a third sign in front (Batmobile Parking Only) But thought that'd be too silly. Another sign was going to be on the lamp post that didn't turn out (To make a Cop Come, dial 911) Believe or not, that's an actual sign I've seen in the Police Stations I've visited for research purposes, but I decided against using it so the building would fit into more eras such as the Victorian one my Osprey lake & Northern is set in. Now I need to find some figures of early 1900's beat cops to patrol the streets of Beecher and a "Paddy Wagon"Don"Emma, use your power!"

>Another thing is that when I'm working on one of these buildings, I start visualizing what the insides look like; while working on the cop station I pictured the grizzled old Irish veteran Police Sargeant manning the desk while the beat cops come in or go out on patrol, the phones are ringing and detectives are heading upstairs, some small time theif is waiting to be booked, while the wagon has arrived and a bunch of screeching and kicking women picked up at the Sufferage rally/riot are getting carried down to the lockup.
