Colleagues,For those of you who have downloaded the RMD-2, two problems have been found, and I have posted a patch to the library to correct them. 1. - Corrupt Terrain Texture File (snow), new file is in the zip along with instructions of what to do with it. If you don't want to bother with downloading, you can copy & rename most any snow texture file because the underlying pattern is hard to see anyway. The file is: qtr_scrubrock_scrubterrain.ace.2. - There is an errant catenary support in the tracks (I said in the instructions, the NP track, but it is the Milwaukee Track) near coordinate 46.00206, -112.59055. This may be safely removed by going to the spot in the RE, selecting the errant pole, delete, and then save. Of course you can leave it there and assume it was because of a local tornado???The pole is in the area of Durant siding & the parallel BA&P. Naturally the automatic gantry placer puts whatever it feels like in place, and I use those for correct spacing, but manually insert appropriate supports in multiple track. Just forgot to delete one or missed it.J. H. Sullivan
I seem to have a problem with quite a few of the crossings where the vehicular traffic is sitting on the tracks. Is there an easy fix to this? Can't post a screenshot or Brad will get on me.John
John,This is something that's really easy to play with. The adjustments to be made will also affect vehicular spacings out on rural roads as well as high speed expressways, so you can just try different values until things "look right" to you. Unfortunately spacings ought to be bigger for high speed expressways, and I sympathize with Jerry in this regard, but we only get one value to adjust for all conditions. Open the route's "carspawn.dat" with your unicode editor. You will see some entries like:CarSpawnerItem("c_car.s" 8) CarSpawnerItem("c_van.s" 8) CarSpawnerItem("dv_30_rea_flat.s" 10) CarSpawnerItem("dv_30_gas_truck.s" 10) CarSpawnerItem("JP1Truck1.s" 20) CarSpawnerItem("JP1Truck2.s" 20)I'm trying hard to remember, but I think that the number just before the closing parenthesis is in meters and is taken from the front of the vehicle. (EDIT: And the "front" part may be obviously wrong, since the same spacing applies to how closely a vehicle stops at a crossing.) The examples above are from my route, and I can't remember what I did for myself in the RMD-2, but you can see the idea. Small, medium, and large spacings for small, medium, and large vehicles.regards, charlie
