About the a1t3waypnt10dmnl.s Switch – image 1

Hello:I was playing with the a1t3waypnt10dmnl.s switch, and the only
possible positions are:
Turn to the left, or go straight ahead; but not to turn to the right.
Of course the G key only allows to switch between 2 positions. But I still have the doubt:
Isn't there a way to turn to the right, either in the AE or in explore mode?I think there is not.
There are two sets of spades and they're not both accessible by the G key
control at the same time .
If I'm wrong, I'd like to know how to turn to the right.Best Regards to everybody

Eduardo.

Eduardo, from what I remember Okrasa saying is that you can use the Left and Straight Path only going into it but in the other direction all Paths can be used.Tried it just now, and that's what is seems !O t t oP.S.: Me thinks, got to try that Switch / Point as the start of a Reverse Loop, using the dud Switch as the exit and see what happens the next time I approach it ?

RE: About the a1t3waypnt10dmnl.s Switch

Experimenting, this is what I found. Can not be used for a Reverse Loop, not even with Signals before entering and both ways to get out.Using it at both ends of a simple siding lay-out, the 3-Y-Switch again can only be used LEFT and STRAIGHT and passing the other at the end of the Siding, the Switch Blades the Train just passed on the way back to the center straight did not open, looking as if the Train had used the center straight. The Train is also jumping tracks going through the 3-Y-Switches at both ends.Reversing the Train at the other end and using the LEFT Spur again, MSTS hangs ! BOTTOM LINE, best to be avoided ! There are many other options which work ! O t t oNotice the odd Tracks of which there are none actually laid, not even having disappeared underground, as sometimes can happen, being careless laying them and made to appear again with W !

RE: About the a1t3waypnt10dmnl.s Switch

Otto
IIRC there was a glitch in MSTS that would not allow all three to function without getting the S/DS card o doom.
Other possibility is the switch is a flaming liberal and is therefore incapable of doing anything that involves moving to the rightGary S

RE: About the a1t3waypnt10dmnl.s Switch

I like that, Gary ! I think Okrasa will come into this soon to point out that as Switches can have only 2 Paths you can not have 3 in a 3-Y. He should know, he designed them ! But why MSTS hangs when you try to reverse back taking the left path again is another mystery ! O t t o

Otto:Thank you very much for your answer, and for the test you made about the switch.Well, I thought that it would be that way, and that the right point would not run.
But I thought it would be worth asking somebody else.Anyway I could use it just as a dummy switch, to simulate those that I saw in the big main final stations, where it's not used by the trains themselves, but they're used only by the locomotives, when they turn back to the other point of the train. In this way I would use it just backwards with the locomotive.
Or avoid using it, just let it be there.By the way, what about that a1tDblSlip3d that Okrasa made?
I feel curious about it Thanks for all

Hi Eduardo !Okrasa's Modular 3° and 6° Double-Slips are great, a bit of getting to know how to assemble them, but all explained in the Developers Version of Xtracks which can be downloaded from our File Library. You may also want to look at Jürgen's (ROMAN) Y-Tracks Double-Slip, a bit easier to put together, their track beds also looking better, their individual Switches ones not overlaying each other. Also available from the File Library together with ease HOW-TO Info I supplied, having learned a bit from how Okrasa does this ! Take Care, O t t o.

Otto:Yes, the modular switches made with 3º and 6º and their endpoints allow a lot of possible combinations, I use them to make doubleslips, diamonds, and some kind of asymmetrical diamonds and strange switches, or reproduce the most crowded stations. They allow much more flexibility, and now I found them easier to use.About Ytracks, I don't know them yet, but now that you told me I will download them.
For your words I understand there is no incompatibility with Xtracks.
I will try them.

No problems with Y-Tracks Points to fit into MSTS and XTracks Geometry. There are further cosmetic improvements on the way, worth to have a look at and use them !HAPPY EASTER, O t t o.

Hi Eduardo !Apart from the "Scissors" points, all others are MANUAL, preferred by most Route Designers.Which Y-Track "Curves" do you not like ? Can you show me a pictureRoman is one of those guys who listens to constructive comments about his creations ! What you see now has been affected to some extent by feedback from me ! Take Care, O t t o.P.S.: Forgot to ask, being a Tracks Fan, which Route do these tracks come with. GREAT Picture, b.t.w. !

Slight correction, Eduardo. The Scissors points are of course Y-Tracks Left and Right-Hand Manual points also. Looking at the Track pieces names I mistook the Scissors Frogs for points ! Can't get any better than this ! O t t oAbout the a1t3waypnt10dmnl.s Switch – image 8

Hi, Otto:Thank you very much for encouraging me to use Ytracks, and to answer to my doubts. The picture I sent does not belong to any known route; I just made this as a small flat route to practice with the Ytracks, and arrange switches and diamonds.
The train is the same one that passes through my town every night and morning, as you see on its logo; I use it to simulate routes and branches that I know; They run through all the country for long distances, and I have travelled all my life into them. Their mark is Materfer. Here's another picture of this small testing route and how it looks, all made with Ytracks.
I cannot improve the image's quality, due to my poor 8 mb on-board graphic card, that I told you once. That's the best I can get from it.
Next weekend I'll travel to Buenos Aires and I'll probably buy there a new PCI graphic card that I need to play with MSTS correctly.I received from Roman an E-mail with valuable information about Ytracks, so I must thank him much too for his attention.I send you the best wishes for all your works and achievements with MSTS, and thank for all your posts..Good luck...

Eduardo.

Eduardo,I like the looks of those Rails, the Ties / Sleepers and the Gravel.Which Route did they come from ? Could you please E-Mail me those Acleantrack1.ace and Acleantrack2.ace files ?Thanks, O t t o. P.S.: Just noticed how you created these fantastic looking Double-Slip Scissors. I think we are two of a kind, mad about TRACKS and Switches / Points ! Going to try and do the same in my Y-Tracks Test Route ! Then I will try pathing an Activity through all these Switches in a number of ways to make sure that the Tracks Database can cope with them ! Just remembered one more thing. What was it you did not like about some "Curves" ?

Hi Eduardo ! Well done, I like complicated Tracks Layouts to run my trains over. Never thought of trying that combination ! No problems with running an Activities Path through this assortment of Switches ! All works, no matter how hard I tried to confuse the Activities Editor and the Tracks Database ! O t t o

A limitation in the way MSTS works means you can only toggle between two states with the G-key. The switch can have more alternative paths but there is no way telling MSTS to change to any but the first two.
Kuju programmers not expecting the community to come up with such strange things as three way switches. The same programmers who made the switch display which only shows their pre-defined switches correctly when the path is set straight, all other switches always has the diverging arrow on the same side regardless it's a left or right hand switch.
