I was just wondering how hard it would be to add fuel points on the Cumbres Pass Route. No animation is neccessary I would just like to top off the tenders at the respected spots. Would it be as easy as going into RE and right clicking and go add fuel point? I really have no clue about this so I am just wondering. If it is too much trouble don't worry about it. Thanks for the help.

Probably wouldn't be terribly hard. I've tossed the idea around to do that, primarily for water tanks, but wanted to include an animated tank object before I pushed ahead. Fueling points would be good to do as well, and you're right, that wouldn't take any animation, since the coaling points along the route were mostly shovel-driven. I've been neck-deep in the route between Chama and Durango, but I'm sure I'll need a break from that before too much longer. Some revisions to v.2 of Cumbres Pass are needed in any case, since I've been working (sparingly) on a couple of activities that are going to need some route changes (adding some phantom switches to take care of the coupler break bug and the like). Probably won't happen before summer, but hearing of others interest may motivate me to make it happen sooner.Andy
You could use Tim's tanks for the Sumpter route, and have animation. One thing I noticed, after a fuel or water point is placed and saved, if you then move the tank any, it quits working, after actually placing and saving, you should delete it and re-place it. It is important to have a mark to line up on, like a certain tie, or bush that indicates where the actual fuel point box is.We are getting closer to moving, all house painting, inside and out, and most repairs are finished. Lawn is re-seeded and turning green. A realtor was by today, and we pretty much have things worked out to list it. Is it any wonder I haven't opened the sim in 3 weeks!
Sheesh, Steve. You have a real life? How can you continue to provide goodies for those of us who don't if you keep messing around with these trivialities? Actually, the animation is pretty straightforward, as is the conversion to an interactive object. I've already generated an animated, interactive version of the Rio Grande tank that's the standard on Cumbres, but just the single-spout version. I just haven't taken the time to convert the double-spout.The need to install some "phantom switches" is really what's keeping me from diving into the fix for the route. I'm dreading the potential for the route to get really messed up because I'm changing the track with all the interactive objects in the route. That and it takes a long time to get through the activity - about an hour's run just from Antonito to Big Horn.Good luck on the house. Having gone through that a few years ago, the memory of it is still fresh in my mind, and what's keeping me rooted to the house we're in now!Andy
I've done it to a lot of routes, including one of the Cumbres and Toltec routes.Go to the library and pick out coal tower and water tanks that you like. The read-me will tell you what to do. You have to add the shape files to the route and the read-me will give you some statements to add that can be copied and pasted.Use the lon & lat readings to jump to the spots in the Route Editor that you want to place them.First time I tried to do this the biggest problem I had was turning them to line up with the sides of the track. They had a habit of flipping all over the place looking like an acrobatic routine and ending up katywompus. I have a track ball mouse and I found that after placement I could drop the ball out of my mouse and then operate the proper axis with my finger and the building would spin around to align without tipping over on it's side. Of course I made mistakes before I got it to work and I had to ask where the "delete object" tool was. Who would quess that there was none since there is a placement tool! To delete, one just selects the object and pushes the delete button on the keyboard, duh!I have them all over PO&N, Marais 3.1, Europe 2, Lehigh Valley, Chicago Great Western and maybe a couple more.
