I was wondering if anyone knows where the 0_2 meter straight that's on my track sections list comes from. It doesn't seem to be from X-tracks or Dual tracks and I don't think it's Standard but would really come in handy if I had the shape files. Thanks in advance.

It's not part of XTracks and for a good reason.
0.2m is too short for MSTS and I would strongly advice against using it.
It's better selecting your other sections more carefully than dabbling with this kind of short section to fill left over gaps.
0.2m is within the limit for what MSTS sees as connected track sections and it can cause you problems during a tdb rebuild. That said I don't know where it's from but if you open the standardized tsection.dat and search for it you should be able to make out who added the entry.

Of course you have the A1t0_3mStrt in XTracks that is long enough not to cause this potential problem and can be used just about anywhere negating the need for any other straight track section! Simply put down 1000 A1t0_3mStrt sections and you have a 300m straight.

I think that 2 decimeter section is a part of Dual-Tracks. Referring to Okrasa's comments, it makes me think this might be a static filler object to plug into a gap where the tdb makes the connection but there is a gap in the graphic display. Steven Masters has included some of those in his New Roads package.Cal Rasmussen

Cal,This section actually belongs to Dietmar Jülich, but I don't know what his block of shapes and sections does, nor where to get it.regards,

Charlie, you spotted who the originator of that section is by looking into the Tsection.dat ! Tried to contact Dietmar Jülich once before but he seems to have disappeared, his E-Mail address not responding.O t t o

Unless I'm woefully mistaken, the narrow version N1t0_2mStr is in DualTracks, but not the standard gauge one. The narrow gauge one is indeed a live track section, not a static object. Okrasa's warning to avoid the 0.2m sections is worth following. After using my narrow 0.2m section to plug gaps (because of no dynamic in narrow gauge), I repeatedly ran into problems with the track database, always leading to those 0.2m sections. I think if you use them in the process of laying track from one end to the other, you might be alright (and I have some still in my route, so I'm not anxious to have it deleted from the global tsection.dat or DualTracks). But if you have track already laid from either end, and just want to drop something in the gap to connect them, you *don't* want it. Widen the gap and put in the 0.3m or larger section, or use dynamics in standard gauge (maybe).

RE: A1t0_2mStr

There are quite a number of "Fractional" Track Sections now, starting with 0_3, via 1_5 and 2_6, etc and these in combination with short pieces like the 1mstrt and others should be able to fill any gap without having to resort to DYNAMIC track sections, many would like to avoid having to use ! It's a bit of a fiddle sometimes, but after a while you develop a sort of a "Sixth Sense" about what it takes to fill a gap using them and not DYN. I cut my Track Laying Teeth with Model Railways doing that, avoiding having to use "Flexi-Track" ! O t t o

Hi:Until this day I was worried about A1t0_2mStr, because I wanted it and hadn't got.
So I finally learnt that I didn't need it at all.
So I had to use the A1t0_3mStr.d piece, combined with others, always helped me and it always fits well.Of course sometimes I spend much time looking for the right combination, but I always made them fit so far.A couple of times I used a very small piece of track, called a1tdblslip10dend.s, to fill a small empty space, and it worked!, but I don't know of any other results, and I don't think that anyone would suggest it.Dynamic track, I just used it once, and nevermore.
But if we need it, it's always there to be used.Good luck for building your route...

Eduardo.

Hello,I make á Dutch route, and I was also thinking where is the 0,2Mtrs trackpiece but now I'm happy that it is missing. Because when I read al the problems that it can bring.I'm a heavy user of Xtracks, and when you're building a Dutchroute like me, you can't live without it.
This is because stations here in holland, have a lot of points/tracks on a small yard.

Okrasa Ghia thanks for Xtracks.screen taken from my route enkhuizen-zaandam-amsterdam (version4)

Did not think of the a1tDblSlip10dEnd.s and as you said I would not advice it. There is also an a1tSglSLip10dEnd.s that would be better (don't you get a number of blue poles with the a1tDblSlip10d.s?) but I would not advice using that either but try getting the correct combination of longer sections that fit you need. Also I might add I'm not as concerned about dynamic tracks as some others are. An occasional dynamic section I think is okay just don't use it as your universal track section everywhere.
