When I start up the Route Editor, I get a string of Train Database errors referring to file paths that don't exist in the Trainset folder, eventually send don't send pops up.If those paths don't exist in my trainsim folder, where is the path information coming from?Regards, Hank
I think MSTS is looking in the activities to see what's needed as far as paths, consists, etc. The paths will be located in the Paths folder for each route - you can have paths without activities, but activities without paths can cause problems. I'm surprised the error says you should have paths in the Trainset folder.Andy
Wow Hank... just like your signals... everything you do, you do with excellence... including problems so tough we're struggling to figure it out!First off, you typed ROUTE EDITOR. Did you mean ACTIVITY EDITOR?Proceeding with the assumption you intended to type ROUTE EDITOR -If you haven't already, try this:Move any files from the Activities and Paths folders from the problem route to a folder outside your MSTS installation. Then see if your route will load into ROUTE Editor. If it DOES, then replace one path/activity at a time into its correct folder and try to enter RE. When it chokes, you've found the bogus path/activity. Delete the cantankerous one permanently and replace it with a new one.BTW, will all other routes load into RE except your problem route?Andre MingVisit V Scale Creations Forum at: http://www.3DTrains.com
Hi, AndreI short, I've fixed it with full recovery(with fingers crossed). The "train database" error came upon opening the route editor. It wouldn't even get to the point of the route selection drop down list. Here's how I got in that situation. For the first time ever, I d/l'ed an activity pack for an addon route. I setup the stuff and downloaded scads of addon equipment called for. When I felt I had done everything according to what instruction there was, the activities never ran, giving me error messages for equipment that still wasn't in my trainset folder. All of these things were asking for equipment that wasn't included on the list or in folders that were misnamed. I was able to locate some of the equipment and figured out some the misnamed folders, but as soon as I fixed something, more heretofore unseen messages kept on appearing. After nearly a half a day at this I just gave up and started throw out all the activity pack stuff. All references in the route and all the equipemnt. When I was sure I had gotten rid of everything, I loaded the RE and the problem messages about the train database and bogus paths blocked me from being able to open the RE. All of these messages appeared before the route list box would appear, so no route was selected.I ended up fixing it by replacing the entire trains folder with one from a copy of MSTS in another directory. Started it up and it worked just fine. I've been backloading some of the newer trainsets one by one just in case the problem comes back.I wish I knew what went wrong in the original trains folder.Regards and thank you all, Hank
