Aug-15-01, 07:31 PM (EST) 1. "RE: convert2" Execute the Setup program to install Convert2. NOTE: You may want to go ahead and download Convert3--it has road data. But you still need to install Convert2 first, and then install Convert3. This is necessary due to an error in Convert3's installation configuration. The Auto Marker Utility will now be present in your start menu. Before you run it, you need to get the coordinate range of your route area from MSTS Route Geometry Editor. In RGE, point at a point above and to the left of every tile on your route, but as close as possible to the route. Write down the latitude and longitude. Then point at a point below and to the right of every tile on your route, but as close as possible to the route. Write down that longitude and latitude.Use the Start Menu to run Convert.Exe. When the Converter's control panel comes up, enter the longitudes and latitudes that you recorded above.I recommend that you use an intermediate marker spacing of 0.001, but you can adjust this value if necessary. You may want to change the "0" value near the bottom to a "2". This will prevent the big fat markers from showing up on your route (they make it harder to edit).Click the Execute button. When the program finishes, locate and edit the output file (it will usually be in C:\Program Files\Convert\Outdata.txt). Edit it with WordPad (Start Button->Program Files->Accessories->Wordpad) and save the file as a unicode document (File->Save As, then change bottom value to Unicode Text). Be sure you enclose your route name in quotes (e.g. "athens.mkr") to prevent Word from adding the .txt extension to the file.Move the file to your route and open the Route Editor. Have fun laying track.Convert3 also contains federally funded highways. To use the highway dataset, change the input file name to "RoadData.MIF" and the Marker Label from "RAIL" to "HIGHWAY". You can show both rail and highway data together by merging the two files using Wordpad. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
