The Pocahontas Dist. is still going to be a while, there is a lot of scenery to be done yet. The route runs from Bluefield, WV to Williamson, WV and includes all the branch lines.NSeva is working on the Clinch Valley Dist. from Bluefield, VA to Cedar Bluff, VA This is an ajacent line off of the Pocahontas Dist. and which the "Pokey" connects to by the Dry Fork branch which is about 45 miles long.If you are looking to run an NS route now, check out my East River route from Bluefield, Wv to Radford, VA. LAST EDITED ON Jan-12-04 AT 12:51 PM (EST)

Thanks for the aknowlegment Austin! But like he said Im working on the Clinch Valley. I have all track down as of now and working on trying to fix some bad spots in the track. Ive almost gotten every bump and turn as close to accurate as I can, just so you know the bumps were purposly put in and not poor track laying. I was able to aquire some footage of the line from the cab of a locomotive from my friend that works for the railroad on the CV Line. I just hope that I can get the scenery as accurate as I did the rails.--DriftonClinch Valley DistrictRails = 100%

RE: NS Routes

Hi jasonI'm (still) working on the NE Georgia/SC Route. The Southern Crescent ran through twice a day. Here's a shot from Cornelia, GA. The route will be released in part this year - hasn't even gone to beta test yet. It will be prototypical and set up for activities. NS container freights, through freights, and the Amtrack Crescent run it today. The total route is from north of Atlanta, GA to south of Greenville, SC.Here's a few of the latest shots.Mark

RE: NS Routes

Awesome shots Mark!! BTW you ever catch NS 238 or 237 (Atl-CHS), those head my way down the SC line to Charleston and usually have some awesome power. Looking forward to this route, but take your time, and keep up the excellent work!

RE: NS Routes

Hi John:I don't catch much of anything anymore - I moved to Florida . Another MSTS fan, John Marbury, is helping me learn the operation, though - and I had a few tips from another Trainsim fan who was a brakeman on the division, working out of Seneca. I heard these trains are daily intermodal hotshots. I guess they turn right at Spartanburg!Would like to know more about them - power, consist - email me if you have a minute (don't want to fill up this thread with off topic stuff). Thanks for the comments. They help keep me pluggin' away!Mark

P.S. Heck... if someone could at least do old Spencer Yard as it was back in the 40's/50's or even as it is today - the North Carolina Transportation Museum... I'd be very happy and very able/willing to assist you in such an endevor.

RE: NS Routes

This probably sounds like a broken record to some, but I AM still working on the Saluda grade. Kind of bogged down on trying to simulate the non-standard and other signals on the route. Just simmed the grade and about ten miles on either side. It will work if you like slow running mountain railroading. Southern/NS had a road foreman of engines ride down with each tonnage train, and if this gets out for people to try, it will be obvious why they had that requirement.

RE: NS Routes

I would like to know if anyone knows on here when will the Pokey be available for release because it is looking wonderful and am really looking forward to it's release. I would also like to know if the big power plant out of Charleston,WV I think or somewhere around there will be included in this route as well because it would make for some really good coal operations and switching of trains there. Please reply back to me and let me know about this. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the interest, at this moment I'm finishing up scenery at Bluefield, WV on the Pokey. The mainline is considered scenied at this point. That's 100 miles from Bluefield, WV to Williamson, WV. I still have about the same amount of miles of branch lines to scenic yet. Expect release sometime in a few months. I'm not going to make the mistake of an exact date of release.I agree, Charleston,WV would be great to have. The Pokey is actully south of it and is no where near Charleston. The West Virginia Secondary covers Charleston. That line runs from Deepwater, WV to Kanauga, Ohio.As for coal operations, the Pokey has many of them. If your looking for coal operations, this is the route for it. It has more mines then I really want to count and numerous branches to serve the mines. The yards at Williamson and Bluefield are always filled with coal. NS4Life

RE: NS Routes

Thanks for letting me know about the pokey results so far. I would like to know if your going to be making any activities for this route with the first release of it or will we have to make them ourselves and run them. I would like to see some coal activities like taking a train from bluefield,wv to a specific mine on there for loading and then in another activity taking the loaded train back to bluefield,wv for later departure. Please reply back to me and let me know. Thanks a lot.

I plan on including an activity pack with the route. I'm not the best at doing activities, but I will have at least 5 of them with the inital release. NS4Life

RE: NS Routes

That would be cool. I'm working on the Harrisburg Line. Track is laid from Reading to Palmyra, with most spurs and sidings complete and the Penn Eastern line (former Conrail Akron Secondary) at Sinking Spring. I'm heading out this weekend to take some pics along the line.Eric

Currently the Pokey is making slow progress. I have got the mainline fully sceniced, and one branch line. I still have a lot of branch lines to do. I can't really give an exact date on it's completion, but in a few months I should be close. NS4Life
