Poker doesn't poke anymore – image 1

I wrote Geoff and he wasn't sure of the answer so I'll post here to see if anyone knows. The problem:>
>having used Poker for many months (and been very pleased) it's now stopped
>jumping to markers, giving the message the "longitude edit box is not
>visible". I assume you mean the camera window, which of course is visible.
>The only thing that's changed is I am now using XP instead of 98.Any ideas?Dave NelsonWP mainline, Oakland-Stockton: 100% complete;

RE: Poker doesn't poke anymore

Hi Dave,I have been using Poker on Windows XP ever since Poker came out, and normally it works just fine, at least to jump around the route which is the main thing I use it for.Mike

I know it works on XP -- the object rotate function doesn't work at all under Win98 and when I asked about that all the XP folks said it works just fine for them.So I'm at a loss... IMO Poker is a valuable tool and right now about all it does is the feet<-->metre conversion!I figure its got to be something about XP. I installed it recently and once I got all the software reinsalled everything but Poker works just fine. Is there some other software it needs but perhaps wasn't set up when I installed XP?Dave Nelson

RE: Poker doesn't poke anymore

One possibility - did you change your XP theme when reinstalling? Poker requires the edit boxes to be in certain positions but XP may have moved them to make way for a chunkier border, for example. There is only one other way of identifying non-identified edit boxes, and that would be by relative position to each other.Geoff M.

I did take a look at large fonts but switched back to normal. And of course setup my own background so the display features says it's modified but I'm fairly sure it's only the background image that's not default.I've attached a screen shot showing RE, the camera box, and poker w/ it's error message.Dave Nelson

RE: Poker doesn't poke anymore

Hmmm. I don't know what to sugggest now. It has obviously found the camera window but for some reason can't determine which is the longitude edit box.Thanks for the pic.Geoff M.

One problem solved: it was the font. Not as set under control panel but via the display adapter software instead (I made the fonts larger). When I reset the font to default size I could use Poker to to go markers again.OTOH, it still does not rotate objects. At least now it thinks it can do that as it goes busy for a long time (but nothing happens). Under Win98 it would simply tell me the object wasn't selected.I'll continue to play around with this....Dave Nelson

It's RE sized to 1024 x 768; The screen resolution itself was 1280 x 1024 in true color. The screen shot was just of RE (thats alt prntscrn) then the image was resized in Irfan to 800 x 600 for posting here.Dave Nelson
