How can you get the track grade to rotate to .380? – image 1

Well, I caculated what my grade would be in degrees! .380. But when I try to rotate up and down in RE, it skiips from .300 to .450! Since .380 is just about in the middle, I would like to get it closer to .380. What do you have to do to the .w tiles to accomplish this? Thanks!

The END key on the keyboard is the vernier control for all movements. Hold down the END key and "stroke" the track section up or down, watch the numbers.

Hmm. I don't see any difference? I am holding down the end key while hitting up or down in the keypad or using the mouse. It seems the same to me! What do you mean by "stroking?" I am holding down end on the keypad when hitting up and down on the keypad. just the same! .300 to .450!Thanks!

I don't use the up and down arrows... click drag the track piece up or down while holding on the End key. If it doesn't work you're not doing it right.

Do you have a set of 6 keys between the numeric keypad and everything else? They're typically above the arrow keys and look like this:Insert Home Page Up
Delete END Page DownWould you by any chance be using a notebook...?EDIT: If you have NumLock OFF(the light is off) it might function as an End key... Then I guess use the arrows to rotate track if you can't click and drag it up and down...

The keypad is the keys that say 789|456|123 with the 7 saying HOME, 9 saying PgUp Etc. Right? To the left I have a blank row and then everything else (I assume you mean qwertyuiop<>\, asdfghjkl;' Enter, zxcvbnm,./Shift right by "everything else" right?)I am on a Sony VAIO DESKTOP computer with the keyboard that came with it.Thanks!

RE: How can you get the track grade to rotate to .380?

Do you have arrow keys...?
This set I'm referring to is generally above the arrows, but some keyboards don't have it(to make it smaller/cheaper I guess).
Read the edit on my previuos post, that's the only fix I can think of unless someone has something else, and I'm only guessing it works that way.

RE: How can you get the track grade to rotate to .380?

How many function keys do you have? (F1 - F8 or F1 - F12) if the second set applies, next key to the right should be Print Scrn, then Scroll Lock, just below Scroll Lock is Home and below Home is END. Hold the END key down while pressing the numeric keypad #8. If this does not match your keyboard, you need to get a 101/102 keyboard. Take care,
Rich S.

Try the "End" key with the right arrow above it, not the "End" key with the "1" above it.Then use the "8" and "2" keys to raise and lower the track, while holding the "End" key.Hawk"First thing I remember knowin', was that lonesome whistle blowin'-And a yungun's dream of growing up to ride-

When I use the "End" key with the right arrow above it, you scroll around in RE but when you hit 8 and 2 it still skips. So my keyboard is different then most peoples? Do I need a new one?"Dad, we need a new keyboard.""Why?""Because our current keyboard doesn't have the same keys most keyboards have and I need those keys for Train Simulator.""I think the one we have is fine!""But I can't build a route without a new one!""Too Bad. I guess you'l have to live without it!"
My keyboard has a scrolllock, but I don't know what it is or how to turn it on. Might this by the solution? Note the ScrLck key above the 7. It says Numlk on top and if you hit it it turns on NumLk, not ScrLk.Thanks!

RE: How can you get the track grade to rotate to .380?

Turning OFF Numlk should make all the keys in the number keypad do what they say under the numbers... the Home, PgUp, PgDn, End, etc...
When Numlk is ON those keys function as numbers...

All else fails try MSTSpoker.
http://www.simsig.co.uk/mstsThe Object tab allows you to alter the gradient/elevation of the selected track or road piece. Two methods of entry can be used: elevation (degrees), which is MSTS's normal method; or gradient (percent), which is a far more common method of measurement. Select the track in the Route Editor and then select the Rotate option, again in Route Editor. Then enter the value and press the adjacent Apply button in MSTS Poker. This will also convert the value to the other measurement (degrees to percent or vice versa) and show it in the other edit box.
Mstspoker is free.
Ends need for new keyboard and makes dad happy.

Thanks Derr Metra - you can buy keyboards (with all the keys) pretty cheaply. My current one was UK£15, so about US$20-25. You could always brush the dirt off the scanner and sell it! Geoff M.
