After a short respite from working on the ATSF Marceline route I went in to start the next phase of trackwork. As a short project I wanted to do a particular section of the route (around Joliet, Ill.). I went into RGE to generate the new tiles and discovered that I'm going to cross one of the dreaded "white lines" just south of Chicago. All appeared to go well, tiles were generated, quad-tree saved, etc. I Dem-exed the tiles, too!Went in to look at the area and behold Illinois buried in snow! (AKA: all white, no terrain, no color)Thinking that the culprit might be going west-to-east across a boundary line, I tried to change the start tile and got an error "failed to read .trk file". Went back to square one (restored full back-up copy!), repeated the process, same result...Back to square one again and started snooping around. My white begins at approximately 41:30N x 92:20W. I had added and dem'ed tiles east of Marceline previously and they appear to be there and fine.Any thoughts/perspectives/etc.?JBD

The same will happen when going south-to-north. Try moving your start tile north of that boundary and then see what happens.ShawnEdit for spelling

I tried that. That's when I got the "failure reading .trk file" error. Is it possible to generate a completely new set of route tiles and quad-tree then transfer the tiles, world files, and databases into that setup without a major ruckus happening?JD

RE: Adding tiles to routes...

For what it's worth, Conrail Indy crosses a boundary from south to north just east of Sidney, OH.Other than having to save and restart when running eastbound towards Marion, I haven't had any problems with it. I created all my tiles in one RGE session, so I don't know if that has anything to do with your problem.
