When I go into RE my markers need to be moved to the left just a little.I'm useing Waypoints.exe 2.0 but I'm not sure just what to type in the lat or lon.I would like to just move It a little at a time.I've tride a couple of things It eather looks like it didn't move at all or there completly gone. Thanks for any help.
There is no 'left', I presume you mean west, since the RE starts with the view facing north, in which case you'd need to edit each entry in the marker file, subtracting roughly .0001 from each longitude entry. I believe that would be the first of the two numbers inside the parenthesis. Or you could try loading your marker file into tiger2marker and using the offset checkbox to enter the amount you want to shift them by, but it's not exactly made for that, so if you try it be sure to make a backup of the route's .mkr file in case anything goes wrong, and set the output of the program to a different filename, such as 'test.mkr' so you could compare the results to your original marker file and see if the entries for longitude differ by the amount you entered for the offset lon.Lloyd
The waypoints program can 'shift' the long and/or lat of EVERY entry being created by the specified positive or negative value.Depending where on the earth you are specifying this for, the actual number of meters moved differ for the same shift values.Experiment by using small values of plus/minus 0.001 and then adjust as needed.Martyn T. Martyn, I don't know if Waypoints 2.0 is the same as the customized version you sent to me but if it is, I am currently using offsets of Longitude: 0.00116, Latitude: 0.00014. However, the amount of offset varies in different parts of my route. I think this has to do with the way the aerial photographs map to the topographic map. Also, I have noticed in USAPhotomaps, that in some areas, a different set of photos is used for high resolution (8 meters/pixel or less) and in others the same photos are used. I think this would affect the offset also. Note that all of this applies only if you are creating waypoints from the photos.Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, OR (My email is in my profile)Columbia Gorge Route (Phase 1 UP side 95%, BNSF side 90%)
