Jonathan, when looking in your readme.txt to try and see what railroad operated the line I noted you stating:
"This route may need Xtracks installed".
There is no such thing as "may need XTracks". Either it does or it does not and you should state it directly in the file_id.diz so that people can know before they download. Not everyone knows that they can peek at the readme.txt before downloading.

RE: Tennessee Pass

Is Tennessee Pass out? Is it here on train-sim? If not where can I find it? I have to have that route!

RE: Tennessee Pass

Tennessee Pass is available this morning in the Train-sim file library. It includes two files, named < tp1.zip > and < tp2.zip >. I'm downloading now, but it's going to take a while with my slow dial-up modem.

RE: Tennessee Pass

X-Tracks 3.7 solved the first problem. Poor little Tacoma Rail SW1200 sure gets some nice speed on the north side of the Pass.Shuttered portals would look nice on top.Replaced missing A1T60R5D.s problem for missing A1T0_8mStrt.s extended shape.Bill

There is a program in the library called MSTSMiles (MileV1_2.zip) That may help you get the list. Here is a sample log file taken from the ArollerCoaster route:

RE: Tennessee Pass

Hmmm, this looks a bit cloudy...
Headaches ahead for newbies, and an undeserved gloomy light on Okrasa's excellent XTracks.
Gee, authors shd be a bit more precise on requirements !Would it not solve it all:-to state 'Needs XTracks 3.7 or higher', so that tsection.dat is OK
-to add the missing track shape to the SHAPES folder of the route ?Love and Peace

The ReadMe.txt state that the route is Beta, and as winter approaches and I get back to route building, I'll be having the same troubles down the line. I'm trying to help, I am in case it doesn't sound that way, please take it that way.Bill <waiting for the day that I am the target >

>-to state 'Needs XTracks 3.7 or higher', so that tsection.dat is OK Yes, solves the first problem with the need of the standardized tsection.dat.>-to add the missing track shape to the SHAPES folder of the route ? No, track section shapes do not go into the routes SHAPES folder.
They belong in the global SHAPES folder.Stating the route needs dualtracks would solve both problems.
Then the next problem would be to tell every user where they can get dualtracks since it's quite some time since it was uploaded.

RE: Tennessee Pass

Rather than install all of dualtracks, which I do not use in my standard gauge version of MSTS, I simply added the s file and sd file for the 0.8 track section into my global shapes, and it works just fine.My Rollins Pass route (Denver to Granby including Moffat Tunnel) has been pretty much stalled for 6 months. All it has is the completed track and straight bridges and 2 lakes. Seems like so much work to install 66 tunnel portals, deal with bridges under curved track, all of the buildings and all the rest. I doubt that anyone would want to download it in its present form.On your Tennessee Pass route, I notice that the picture jumps around really badly at the east portal. Do you know why?Don

66 tunnel portals won't take that long only about 6 hours! The Rollins pass is one of my favorite railway lines after the Alpine Tunnel.I do not really have any idea why the picture jumps around the tunnel. As I have only given the route about two test runs I don't really know where any errors are.http://groups.msn.com/MSTSNarrowGauge

RE: Tennessee Pass

When pass the last swtich, heading to The Tunnel, watch the trucks of any cars/engines in your consist, they make a hard left as you go over a certain spot. Haven't taken the time to do RE on the route to check the track along the strech.I think I saw at least one other spot like that, but can't think of where it was at.Bill

10m skew track isn't properly seated on the south end of the tunnel. If you get close enough, you can see a gap on one eastside rail and overlap on the other.Bill

Hi OkrasaMakes me just realize that there are exactly 15 shapes in official XTracks3.7 with ESD ( 1 ), what could consequences be ?
They are 10 bridge, 2 turntable, 1 carfloat and 2 ukn1t pieces.
Love and Peace

I take it you mean "ESD_Alternative_Texture ( 1 )" in the .sd-file?
This has to do with which alternative textures are expected for night, seasons and weather. I don't remember all the different values possible (has been discussed before) but '1' means no alternative textures and '2' means it uses alternative snow textures (or is '1' it uses night textures if available and '0' means no alternative textures?).
For track sections it's mainly those with a track bed that need an alternative texture todisplay snow on the ground.
I will have a look at it and maybe make some adjustments.

RE: Tennessee Pass

0 - The simplest option is to have one set of textures that is used all the time. The object will be lit realistically, becoming darker at night as you would expect. The weather will have no effect. 1 - The object has two sets of textures, one in the standard texture directory and one in the snow subdirectory. The snow textures will be used when the weather is appropriate. The object will be lit realistically, becoming darker at night as you would expect. 252 - The object has a texture for each of the seasons with and without snow. This is different from the simple snow texture, allowing more subtle variation by season. These textures should go in the subdirectories named by season, i.e. Autumn, AutumnSnow, Summer, SummerSnow, Winter and WinterSnow 256 - The object has two sets of textures, one in the standard texture directory and one in the night subdirectory. The night textures will be used when the sun sets, and when a night texture is in use the object will not be lit realistically. When night textures are applied the object is lit very brightly from all directions, so that parts of the texture that are light in colour will seem very bright at night. To make the object look realistic therefore, parts of the texture that would not be bright at night must be darkened.

RE: Tennessee Pass

Well maybe I'll do some tunnel work. May also start a separate post here to see if there is any interest in my very incomplete route. Because of your continuing interest, I could also send you a CD. I have a lot more tiles than I need (I believe it's 137MB), but I don't know which ones are unneeded, especially with Distant Mountains added. I'm at about 200MB right now, which zips to about 100MB.Last Monday I walked in to the Ladora area (where the first rung of the Giant's Ladder switches back to the second rung), which is bypassed by the present rail-into-auto road. (If anyone knows that land is posted, please note that I did get permission to enter.) I walked the grade, checked out collapsed Tunnel 31 and square water tower, and saw where 2 trestles were. Then drove up to Needle's Eye Tunnel 32. Took about 60 pictures total with fall colors. The route was SO MUCH more familiar now that I have built the darn railroad!!! Yankee Doodle Lake was unusually photogenic that day.

The best way to delete unneeded tiles is to open the DEM-EX so you know where the markers are and remove the tiles in the RGE that are n-where near the markers. Also the Route Riter should over half the size of your route.http://groups.msn.com/MSTSNarrowGauge
