Not sure where to post this. I would like to make a route that uses nothing but snow for textures and weather. Can I leave the other seasons out of the folder or does MSTS need to see these? If so, can I put the same textures in each folder and rename them? Then no matter what season was picked there would still be snow.JK

You can put the same textures in each folder. They don't have to be renamed. If you don't put something in each folder, the user will get an error when trying to select the season and weather with the empty folder(s).Cal Rasmussen

RE: Default Weather

Yes Jerry, you can. I did it for an icy island in my route which has winter textures showing in summer. I took snow versions of objects and renamed their .s and .sd files, added them to the ref file, and put them in the primary shapes folder. Each .sd file had to be opened with a text editor to change the name of the .s file it referenced. I also copied the snow .ace file into the main textures folder. I did all that over again if there was a night version. My method worked, but it was very slow and tedious. There must be a better way.Bill Burnett

RE: Default Weather

The environment part of the problem (sky, water, precipitation) will be much easier. In the "routename".trk file, in the root of the route, you'll find the environment section:Environments (
SpringClear ( filename.env )
SpringRain ( filename.env )
SpringSnow ( filename.env )
SummerClear ( filename.env )
SummerRain ( filename.env )
SummerSnow ( filename.env )
AutumnClear ( filename.env )
AutumnRain ( filename.env )
AutumnSnow ( filename.env )
WinterClear ( filename.env )
WinterRain ( filename.env )
WinterSnow ( filename.env )
)Just make sure to put the environment filename which you want to always appear in the "filename.env" locations. We did the same thing in Sea View 3, where we put SV3.env into each slot. No matter what Season/Weather combination you picked, you always get the same clear weather, skies and water.Jeff
