How exactly do u install this? I haven't even got the route yet, I'm askin cuz I've neva installed a route cut into sections, that and can somebody please give me a name of all the files that I need. I'm not askin on how to install it in the msts, just what all the files I need are so I don't miss one. I can go from there with the readme. so if I can just please get the name of all the files I need I know I saw a fix for it too or sumthin. There just in different places and stuff. that or is there a phrase I can put in that will only bring up v3.1 files that I'm goin to need. either one the names of all files, or just one phrase that will bring up all of them. thanks a lot!

Raise up for the white and green! BN!

search for MP 3.* whereas the * is the variable, it'll bring up the files you need and the 3 fixes. Follow the instructions because even braindead people can install this. Bob and Paul actually got it to be packaged into self installers contained within the zip files. Big plus.

A search on MP3*.* will get them all. You should have 10 files, 7 for the base route and 3 fix files. Just follow the directions.Bob Siederer

RE: Marias Pass V 3.1

Hi lil_man_316.Sounds like your new here and you might be able to gain from some of my stupid mistakes made just a few weeks ago with this route. The route is terrific - big improvment over the defult route. As was mentioned in the above posts the intall with the auto installers is very simple - just follow instructions in the read-me files. However, there are a large bunch of activities for this route and some of them use a lot of non-default equipment. I would recomend that after installing the route install one or two of the reworked default activites and run them to test the route before loading a large bunch of the other activities. I loaded a lot of the activites and their required equipment when I originally installed the MP3.1 route and the Sim would not open. There were so many errors in equipment files, paths, and consists that I was unable to get them all fixed and I was once again installing the sim from scratch. My lesson learned was to load one or a few activities - reading each of the documentation files and loading the required equipment. With a small number of new activities if the Sim craps out you will have a manageable amount of problems to work with and fix. Be particularly carefull with the activities using Australian equipment and any activity which requires large numbers of new engines and cars (such as the Christmas Mail activity). The MP3.1 authors have a file about the activites (Acrobat I think) which is in the downloads. This describes the available activities and it is well worth reading. I now have a practice when using any downloaded activity to load one activity and it's equipment and run it. If it is a good activity I leave it in place, if it sucks I can get it and all of its bits off my system before I get hosed.Be Seeing you.
Michael

RE: Marias Pass V 3.1

You seem to be lucky people if you can install Marias Pass 3.1 without any problems. I've tried it several times without succes. I even made a complete new install of MSTS. First thing after that I wanted to install MP 3.1.
I only come halfway the startscreen and get the send/don't send screen.
Anyone any idea what to do?
I hate losing my wagons at Cutbank. I also hate changing the coupling break value of each .wag-file. I have 1081 in my back-up.
Thanks in advance.Rob

Of course, the instructions mention Xtracks, so if you are following them correctly, you should have installed Xtracks. Is your trouble just installing the route, or all the activities and rolling stock as well? Because there is a problem with one of the .eng files packaged with the route. The name can be found in a recent thread on this topic.>I hate losing my wagons at Cutbank. I also hate changing the

(the name is in another recent thread on this subject) There were a few other minor glitches, but nothing that would crash MSTS.I think for as complex as this route with the associated activities/rolling stock is, the authors did an amazing job to get so few errors! -Jeff

RE: Marias Pass V 3.1

The problem is that I just don't get that far. MSTS crashes during the very first opening screen.
I know what you mean by those errors asking for an .eng or .wag-file. If I get an error like that I know what to do to sort that out.
Is there a way to find out which rolling stock you need for those activities?

You don't by any chance have the L2 route from a while back, and did you install the standardized \global\tsection.dat file (part of Xtracks among others) for the first time?David Beach.Palouse & LewistonMarias Pass V 3.1 – image 1

I've got it and didnt do it right so lemme warn you, FOLLOW the instructions! They are totally right and if you don't follow all of them, you risk totally screwing up your train simulator. Also, only install the default activities first, then try out the route. Then 1 by one, install the authored ones VERY CAREFULLY. Some of them still have a couple of problems and they will be easier to fix if you do them one by one.

RE: Marias Pass V 3.1

From the experiences of others, about the only thing you can do wrong is to not follow the instructions exactly as they are written. Unzip to temporary directories as directed. Put the .exe files where it tells you and run them from there, not from some other location. Make sure XTRACKS is installed exactly as the directions for it say, and make sure you have one of the standardized tsection.dat files. the only things MP3.1 needs in the standardized file have been in it for many iterations, so the specific level isn't very important.Make sure all 6 of the original MSTS routes are in the ROUTES\directory, and make sure the DOS batch file runs correctly after you finish with mp317.exe. It should take several minutes. If it finishes very fast, then something is wrong and it is not copying files. If it didn't autolaunch, then run it by hand by double clicking on the installme.bat file that is in the ROUTES\Marias31 directory. Sometimes on Windows XP the batch file will not launch by itself. You may rerun the batch file at any time without redoing the entire installation.Bob Siederer

RE: Marias Pass V 3.1

Thanks Bob, for your answer. I can tell you I have Xtracks 3.7 installed.
About the standarized tsection.dat. Do you mean I have to find a newer one in the library?Rob

Anybody familiair with a broken coupler at milepost 1089? Everytime I seem to loose my cars at this point. Is it a problem in the route or in one of the cars? Thanks

RE: Marias Pass V 3.1

It's a problem with MSTS. Do a search on this forum for "broken coupler" and find out more than you will ever want to know about it.David Beach.Palouse & LewistonMarias Pass V 3.1 – image 4
