I already searched the forum for a answer but with no luck.Is it possible to replace all the gantry of a route by another gantry ? and if yes how can we do that .. ? Can we do that automatic or must we delete each gantry first ?
I thought it has something to do with .w files ¿?(If this question is already asked before.. can you give me the link of that topic please.)Thanks!

RE: Replacing gantries in route ?

The easiest method I know is to change the gantry names in each *.w file (after having placed the appropriate gantry files in the Shapes and Textures folders and after defining these new shapes in the route's *.ref file). However, different gantries may have different geometries, so check that they are still placed correctly after the changeover: adjust if necessary.

RE: Replacing gantries in route ?

If you do not want to rename all your gantries, you can use Route-Riter which has the option to delete all items with a particular shape name from all the .W files in a route e.g. it will delete MyGantry.s from every tile.Unfortunately you then have to replace all the gantries you have deleted with the new ones, but using the auto-gantry feature should not take too long.In particular, if you originally used the default gantry shapes from one of the default routes, using the same file names for your new custom gantries will cause you problems if you use Route-Riter to package the route because it will tell you that it has found a file with the same name as one of the default shapes and do you wish to include it. As this will happen for each and every gantry, it will take you a while to answer all the queries.Mike

RE: Changing to non eletricfied

The safest is probably to delete the gantries one by one in RE.Maybe a bit quicker is to look for the gantries in the *.w files (with WordPad) and delete their complete entries from there. Make sure you don't mess up the parentheses.

RE: Changing to non eletricfied

Look for a little program called "gantrygone.zip" on this site I think.
It is designed for a specific gantry but all you have to do is change the name of the s file to that of the gantry you want to 'take off'.
I do it on all my routes as I only drive steam...

RE: Changing to non eletricfied

I have just added an option to Route-Riter to swap any .s file in a route's world files for any other .s file.I have tested this by substituting all the 2-track gantries in my Blue Mountains route with a new set of correct NSW gantries and it works fine.I will upload a new version of RR within a few days, as I have some other changes to make as well.Mike

RE: Replacing gantries in route ?

Hi Roland,I have uploaded a new version of Route-Riter, should be available in a couple of days depending on how busy Nels is. This will replace all your gantries for you. I have already done my Blue-Mountains route and replaced all the 1,2,3 and 4 track gantries with prototypical NSW ones, does not take 5 minutes to re-do the whole route.Mike

RE: Replacing gantries in route ?

Can you 'just delete' gantries for example..???
Gantrygone in fact replaces a texture with a 'transparent texture'
Just D/Lding your latest routeriter which is probably the leading utility for MSTS. I'm sure that 1000's out there just think of it as a 'route builders tools' whereas it has so many function relating to consists..checking tracks etc etc
Thanks for your incessant hard work...

RE: Replacing gantries in route ?

Yes, RR has a 'Delete a named shape from selected .W files' option unter MSTS utils. This will remove all gantries in a route (obviously you have to run it a few times for different sized gantries with different .s file names). That option has been there for a while, the new one enables you to swap gantries for a different type.Mike
