Hey all, here's a screenshot of the Y3. I said in an earlier post that the locomotive was #2042, but I've sent that locomotive to the scrap heap and it has become the #2009. If there are any N&W experts out there will you please enlighten me as to what those cylinders on the front of the boiler are for?? Thanks alot, and I'm still making progress trying to release this N&W steam pack!!
Blackhawk,Excellent looking model you have there, this pack is sure to generate some excitment among us steam fans. The cylinders mounted on the front of the boiler are the air pumps, used to charge the braking system as well as run the other air operated devices. They are more often seen on the sides of the engine along the running boards, but some railroads (most notably C&O and a few western roads) did this on most of their steamers.Keep up the good work!Tim Botti University of Pittsburgh Mechanical Engineering www.pitt.edu/~tjb23We'll see 611 steam again...someday
