All,Just a progress shot - needs way more texture work...
LOL - I just discvovered textureing the darn model takes more time than actually building it... And it is no where near as fun... Hehehe...Nice to see the steam projects underway in the forum - in my opinion - steam has always been kinda neglected a bit around here... Even by me... The projects are Look'n good...If any of you guys get tired of running those same old diesel routes - give Andre Ming's North Arkansas a try... Turn off all the tools/helpers and try running it from the gauges in the Cab... Talk about a challenge... Really hard until you get the hang of it... One of my favorite routes...OBTW - This locomotive will have physics by Bill Hobbs... To me - as real as it gets...Regards,
Scott

RE: Steam Rulzzzzzzz...

Hi Paul...Thanks bud... This would have been impossible without all your tools for 3D Canvas... Greatly appreciated - sir...OBTW - I do have one issue with textureing... I get this white sparkle effect - on the cow catcher - when running in MSTS... This started when I tried to re-texture the parts with some wood grain texture... My original solid texture worked fine... No matter what I do I can not get rid of it... No Specular Lighting... I used the flood fill with a solid color... I removed all textures and then retextured... Still I have the sparkles... Ideas ???Regards,
Scott

RE: Steam Rulzzzzzzz...

Hi Paul...Thank you... I will give that a try...What really kills me - is I had this part textured - and - it was fine... I tried to improve it and I got the sparkles... Now I find it impossible to revert back...What I am planning to do is delete the whole part - and - recover it from one of my older saves - prior to the sparkles...If you find anything - I would be very interested to know...Regards,
Scott

RE: Steam Rulzzzzzzz...

>I've seen this sparkling effect once before, I'll try and
>find out what causes it.The "sparkle" is caused by UV mapping set parallel to an object's surface (map a box from top for example, will cause the sides to "sparkle" or give the appearance of rice sprinkled on the surface). This isn't much of an issue with newer video cards with AA and AF enabled.Cheers!
