Hi,guys: I am building my fisrt loco, and when I wanted to make a round nose for it,I used the loft tool. Then it is really a nice looking, but the faces are too much, which will cause bad effect in the game. There are over 5000 faces for one head, finally this loco has more than 12000faces,the fps of the game draws to 15-20.So I wonder in what way you guys make this that can reduce faces. thx clkgtr

Hi...Not sure which modeling program you are using... In 3D Canvas - I would get my shape roughed out and it woudl have a relatively high POLY count as you stated.. Then I would use the "trim" function - to manually go through and remove unecessary faces that weren't an intgral part of the basic shape...http://www.3d-canvas.info/3DCanvasDocumentation/tutorialpointreduction.htmRegards, Scott

You can go to the modifier list and choose the optmize function. Given the right parameters, it can turn a ball into a diamond and any degree of smoothness in between by eliminating faces. Check out these pics from the GMAX bible.Dave
