TSM and shapeviewer problem – image 1

I'm building a large warehouse in TSM and the other day did something in the course of editing/building this model which causes both ShapeViewer and the Route Editor to abort on loading it.I have been editing the Vol_Sphere line to deal with TSM's inability to calculate total length but other than that it's been fairly ordinary stuff.In TSM I made sure I deleted leftover points, thinking perhaps that's the problem.Any suggestions to what I should be looking for?Dave NelsonWP mainline, Oakland-Stockton: 100% complete;

RE: TSM and shapeviewer problem

Could be too many polys, I had to split a depot into 2 separate models because of the poly limit. I think its around 4k. I've had a lot of problems with locos refusing to load in the sim, I start ditching parts from the model until it loads. I avoid editing the Vol_Sphere by centering the model as close as I can in length and width, this works well for most buildings. Some taller structures still pull the dissapearing act, so I'll add a single poly underground to force a larger Vol_Sphere. Cheesy but it saves time.

I think the poly count is around 500 right now so I doubt that's the problem. The only thing I can think of is that I was adding and deleting the same parts like crazy for a while... trying different things to solve a particular problem. Do you think that goofed something up?Dave NelsonWP mainline, Oakland-Stockton: 100% complete;

RE: TSM and shapeviewer problem

Could be any number of things. I've had problems with parts that were too small for MSTS to handle. Usually hoses or handrails less than 1" in diameter. When I enlarged the diameter they loaded without error.Other times I had to add details using the FreightAnim tag before the sim would accept them. I now use this for adding smaller details because of this. I don't know if it's a poly issue or not.Sometimes a part is just bad and has to be deleted and recreated.Frank MusickMoving America into the 19th Century!
