Chinese Qianjin (Forward) steam engine

Under construction. No. 7291 is one of the last mainline steam
engine built by Datong, maybe in 1988. It was sighted in
north China, working for a coal mine.

Nice looking loco. I would like to give a try at doing an .eng file for it (and use the opportunity to update the JS as well). My modeling of steam has improved and I've learned a lot of new techniques for making TrainSim .eng files more realistic.

That looks very nice. =) The QJ class are pretty engines. Was there one without the covering?/JonatanSteam rules!

I don't believe so Jonatan, but who know's there could've been at one point. I would like them better if they didn't have the covering, and the lifters...but that's my personal opinion of a 2-10-2! But i'm not that picky with steam. I just saw a picture of QJ without the "ear". There is another
variation that has smaller ear.

I emailed the company asking how much one of the QJ's are to purchase and they are 185,000 USD as is or 330,000 restored to regulations...damn thats cheap!

Believe you me, more of the well-known steam bastions here than you'd believe have looked into it.The problem is...1.) QJ's are still pretty big for a tourist train.
2.) China has different regulations than the US, and stuff like a form 4 is hard to put together on them.
3.) Unlike SY's, QJ's aren't all that American looking.Regardless, I would not be all that surprised to see one end up on one of a few different places within the next ten years. Pretty neat engines, though I'm not one for red drivers. P.S. Nice job on the model!Tim Botti

The QJs are being scratched these days, pretty sad to
see those pictures. And Jitong line will have diesel
engines as early as next spring.

That is a nice idea, but it just won't work. Who will store it for you? Where will you get the money to store it? Where will you run it? It's most certainly okay to dream, but after that...think about the details.Kevin Bush
