Got all the hard stuff done on this locomotive, I just have to detail the paint job and animate it, and also make a copy of the entire front wheel assembly for the rear end of the locomotive. Just thought I'd post an update for the N&W fans out there.

A bit better. If you look closely you can see that the roof is more curved and isn't hanging over the sides of the cab. I can send you a copy of the roof of my Pacific and you can use that./JonatanSteam rules!

RE: N&W Y Class screenshot

I remember that image all too well. In that particular shot, Mr. Link ran the cables for his camera equipment across the pit area in an effort to capture the depicted photo.Mind you, the wiring was across the pit. Unfortunately for them, they ended up having to resplice all the wiring back together after the turntable's wheel chopped it. The image you posted I believe is from a book called "Steam, Steel and Stars" and all images were a cooperation between the Norfolk and Western and O. Winston Link.Great work on the "Y" so far. Please keep up the excellent work.Thomas Pearce,

RE: N&W Y Class screenshot

Nope sorry, I scanned it from my copy of "The Last Steam Railroad In America" although you are correct as it is in the book you mention. Would give much to get a copy of the shot however (if my personal accountant would let me spend the money) she says I have to spend it on "family things," like that's important or something. Sean,A large print of that very image is available from the Virginia Museum of Transportation for about forty bucks, IIRC. That's about what I paid when I bought my copy, but the frame cost a fair amount on its own. Eminently worth it, in my opinion.

RE: N&W Y Class screenshot

Here is a REAL scale model of a Y6b to use as a reference, even though you should be using real photographs for reference not some little piece of crap N-Scale Rivarossi one that Jonatan is showing you there.I am getting a Kohs 4-12-2 for free because Kohs came to my house one night wanting info and drawings on the 9000's from my dad.http://www.kohs.com/Y6b%20Pages/y6b%20home.htmKevin Bush,

I will have my hand on the throttle of a K-36 very soon Mon Freunds!

RE: N&W Y Class screenshot

I haven't used any pictures of models for reference, only pictures downloaded from the N&W Historical Society and any other photos I can find on the web. I knew going in that the roofline is slightly incorrect, but I try to conserve polygons wherever I can (the thing has 8600 even without the tender)and I didnt' figure that the roofline would be all that noticeable. I'm in the process of trying to fix it, but it may be a while because I'm also trying to finish up my N&W 1218. I did use photos of N and HO scale models for reference on that, though, and I don't see anything wrong with doing that. It is normally a very clear picture, better than most of the 50 and 60 year old photos floating around on the web.

WOW!!!That is what I have been waiting for someone to do. The N&W ran the Y6b's on the Pokey for coal and freight drags. The A class did not see service on the Pokey, but the Y's and J's sure did. Can't wait to see them lugging coal on the line.Again keep up the awesome work!!!

RE: N&W Y Class screenshot

I have a class A I've already made, and you see the Y class I'm working on. I also plan to make a class J and also the M2 1100 (the ugly one with the big hump on it's back). I'll probably just finish all 4 of them and release them in one big N&W pack. Thanks for the support!

RE: N&W Y Class screenshot

I personally don't have any plans to do it, but surely someone out there has done it already or is in the process of doing it.
