I'd have people test the loco before you release it. That way you can solve any problems before its released, and you won't be recieving emails complaing about the loco.William

I would recommend that you get in touch with people who have familiarity with building steam locomotives in MSTS to beta test your locomotive. Names that come to mind include John Fowlis and Rick Grout. I believe that they were responsible for the Canadian Pacific Steam pack: http://members.shaw.ca/cp_steam/cphs.htm. John is a member of the North America Locomtive Works. The NALW came out with the Union Pacific Big Boy a while back. Sincerely,
Walter Conklin

I'll beta test for you. I've seen her several times and know how she operated. Jay611@cox.netJason Underwood

Ok, thanks. I sort of figured that beta testing would be best, because this truly is the FIRST locomotive I've ever done. Not my first time modeling, but my first time working with this game, so I'm sure there are plenty of things wrong with it. I'm tweaking some things right now then I'll send it to someone so they can take a look at it.

Thanks!! BTW, here's another screenshot with the tender this time.

RE: Where do I post the 1218 for others to download??

Well, actually this locomotive wasn't even originally meant for this game. My father works for Norfolk Southern at the Roanoke shop where the 1218 was built, and I was visiting him at the time the 1218 was being cleaned up to go to the Virginia museum of transportation (where it now sits alongside the 611). I never was really interested in trains, but I saw that enormous beast and thought it looked cool, so I modeled it just so I could get some more practice with GMax. It was actually my Dad that convinced me to convert it over to MSTS, so I bought a copy of it a couple of months ago, thinking "how hard could it be?". Well good grief, it was one hell of an initiation, I'll tell you that much, and if it wasn't for the help of the people on this forum, this loco wouldn't even be CLOSE to being done. Thanks for your comments, and I hope everyone likes it when its done.

That is a mighty fine engine. I saw her run three times and rode behind her once. I've also seen 611 several times and also rode behind her once. 611 is my favorite steam engine and 1218 is a close second.

Ah that's your main problem right there, that phrase along with "this job should take 20 minutes tops." are surefire invitations to disaster. Gary S
