RE: How to create a Sphere of light on the rear of engi

Only by jury-rigging the sphere file.
Make the direction -180 and put the light behind the loco by 200M or so,then the light sort of looks like it comes from the back of the rear headlight, but actually it comes from a point 200M behind the loco and points toward the loco.
Not too good, especially when going around curves.

RE: How to create a Sphere of light on the rear of engi

Maybe we have a semantics problem.
Do you mean sphere of light or do you mean a glow light at the front and rear of the loco, that is activated by the OFF-DIM-Bright switch (key H)?
The sphere of light goes only one direction, see my earlier post.
The glow headlight can point any direction, and can be activated by the headlight switch (H) or even by the time of day.
Look in the eng file of Illinois Traction System Class B loco, file its1578.zip, and in the Light section you will find an example of how to turn on the front headlight when the switch is on Bright, and the rear headlight when the switch is on Dim. Also study the reference document on lighting that came w/ the Sim.
Does this help?

HeyThat's it! A glo of light that can actually illuminate the tracks and you can control it with the H key. Off would be the dim on the front, Dim would be all front light on and Bright would be rear lights on and the front ones off.Redfox

RE: How to create a Sphere of light on the rear of engi

The glo or glow light does not illuminate the tracks, it merely looks like a headlight that is on (the lens glows), but dispenses no illumination.
The sphere of light will illuminate the tracks, but does not actually make the lens in the headlight light. YOu can fool it sometimes by burying the position of the sphere in the headlight fixture.
After you have read the tech doc, and studied the referenced file, will be happy to try to answer your questions.
