While I still use MSTS, I rarely do modeling for it, except small things for myself using TSM. I had gotten 3dcanvas and tried to use it but after TSM, I just got too lost in it. Then I had surgeries and getting anything else I just can't manage right now. I'm trying to do modeling for Poser, I do freeware textures for it, right now. I would like to offer some freeware models, but TSM cuts past .3ds format and goes to .s format (converting it automatically for you), I need it in the .3ds format. Getting the commercial version is way out of my reach. I do the textures for therapy, it is slowly helping my hand get so that I can use it again, and for relaxation for images that I make and just post for anyone to use. Does anyone know of a plugin for tsm that would stop short of the .s conversion, but go past the .dst file format to .3ds?Thanks-Thorny
I don't think there is anything that will convert .dst into .3ds format. I think IIRC that the commercial version of TSM will import .3ds files, but not export them ?The only way to save into a .3ds format would be to look at another model program that will support this like 3D Canvas, Rhino, Lightwave etc as a cheaper option to purchasing 3DS Max,
Yup, if you have 3d Canvas, you already have what you need. 3D Canvas is certainly easier to use than GMAX or 3DSTUDIO MAX that natively work with 3DS files. (GMAX can read and obviously 3D studio reads and writes)Lightwave versus 3DCanvas is like comparing Lego Technix to Lego Duplo Blocks. Lightwave is "hard". You could also try Milkshape. http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ms3d/index.html Pete Willard http://www.trainsimstuff.com
