I didnt know which forum to post this in since there isnt a forum dedicated to scenery objects. I am wondering what is the best way to build this deopt. Should I build and texture the individual pieces and then assemble them all? Thank for the help.

RE: TSM question.

I think you're gonna get several different answers to this question. Some will tell you to build a simple box and texture it cause you have to keep that poly count down.It depends on the amount of detail you want to see. Are you gonna model those broken bricks on the roof? Do you want three dimensional supports under the eaves or just flat representations?Something like a depot, which sits quite close to trackside, probably needs more detail. If this was gonna sit a block away you could skimp on some features, but it's not.Having said that, I've built some pretty detailed looking structures but most of the detail is actually on the bitmaps.Frank MusickMoving America into the 19th Century!

RE: TSM question.

The best way to model it, would be to take square on photos of all four sides and then create a texture file from the four photos. Photo editing is a big part of how I like to make models. You can edit out the tree in the photo editor. Save the texture as a .BMP and load it as a backdrop in TSM (under the view menu). Scale the backdrop using a known dimension, and build you model on that. A fairly simple technique once you get the hang of it. Once you have the photos, you can make a model like that in 2-3 hours.Ted Curphey

RE: TSM question.

I plan on doing the supports but I plan on making it look like it did when back in the 40's or 50's so I wont be making broken bricks. I noticed a lot of the depots along this route were exactly like this so I can just retxture the sign for each one and knock out a bunch of depots with just one. This one is in Effner IL on the IN IL border.
