(pulls on flame suit)Alright guys, someone out there's gonna hate me, but I gotta just ask. Any updates on the J? I know I know..."it'll be done when its done." Just figured I'd ask, since I spent last weekend discussing the 611 with fellow Ohio Central volunteers (hey, someday it could happen!). While we're at it, and "Baby J" updates Jonathan? My apologies to whoever read this and is currently cursing the Botti name. Tim BottiWe'll see 611 steam again...somedayNOTE: The 611 is NOT going to the OC anytime soon, I don't wanna be accused of starting any rumors. But keep hope, my friends.

RE: The J...I just had to ask...

Thanks for the interest, Tim. The J's are still in the works. The models are finished. The textures and sounds are underway. I wish I could give you an estimate as to when they will be finished, but I can't. Hopefully soon. In the meantime, here are a couple of shots of #611 at Bluefield on Austin Yoder's East River District. (The textures shown are just the rough maps.)Mike Adams

She's looking good!I have a question about the texturing, was it difficult getting the texture correct on the bullet nose? I guess having only the solid color made it a little easier.Keep up the good work and thanks for the update!Mykel

RE: The J...I just had to ask...

Regarding Mylel's (mjs2101) question about the texture on the bullet nose. I used a texture template of the left side and applied it to both sides of the nose. I had tried a template of the nose from the front, but for some reason (which I don't remember) I didn't use it. The fact that it is a solid color and the nose is smooth did make it easier. Of course, Mike Karlik's final textures will improve it. (Be sure to see the screenshots he posted.) Thanks again for the interest.Mike Adams

RE: The J...I just had to ask...

Hey! I went to see her yesterday. I was in her cab. Still lookin' good, but she would look better under steam. Oh one other thing: My license plate on my car has the 611 on it. In Virginia we can get those plates.

RE: The J...I just had to ask...

Wow, the J looks excellent. Can't wait to take her for a spin! btw Kevin, I hear ya on the steam stuff. It's even tougher being one of the young guys...not too many college kids still into steam locomotion. I started volunteering on the Ohio Central, seems to be the best way to get my steam fix!Tim BottiWe'll see 611 steam again...someday

RE: The J...I just had to ask...

Yep, i'm 17. I run 30" gauge steam at a Zoo railroad here in Omaha Nebraska on the weekends. It's not what you think. The shop we have has alot of machines from UP's Shops in Omaha. And it also has a pit and over head traveling crane. The railroad is 3 miles long...but has up to 6% grades. Hauls hundreds of thousands of people every year. The Cumbres & Toltec wants an interview with me this September. Keep your fingers crossed!Kevin Bush,

I will have my hand on the throttle of a K-36 very soon Mon Freunds!

Nice shots! Cant wait to have her. Just one small question. Is it me or are the textures in the link (on the loco) different than those in the shots above. it seems the one in the link are more realistic/shiney.
just wondering.Great work!!0

Thanks,
Jim

RE: The J...I just had to ask...

The textures shown in my screenshots above are only the rough texture maps. The textures, shown in the screenshots in the link posted by Mike Karlik (TrainTrak5000), are his work. He is doing the final textures. However, the textures you see may or may not be the final textures.Mike Adams
