Here's some shots of different works in progress that I have picked up, dropped, and picked up again. Currently, Im working on the GE U50B in GMAX. I've modeled a lot of it already in TSM, but wasn't real happy with the outcome, even though the TSM version will probably be released first. What's wierd is that some textures show as white in TSM, when they're not really white--it did this also in GMAX. I don't know why, but the exported versions appear fine. Next is a GA8B. It's still going through texturing and smoothing issues fixes. Finally I have the MRS1 USAF version. It still has details to add and texturing. I'm in he middle of making the switch from TSM to GMAX and I's like to try 3D Canvas some too. Once these locos start looking better, I'll put them in the library.Dave Dandy

No, I'm thinking the FA8 is the red Mexican one. The blue loco is the MRS-1. A US Army MRS-1 was done by Carlos Gomes, but we can always use another!

RE: GA8-MRS1-U50B in the works

Actually, the GA8 is the red Diesel switcher. Developed in the 50's, it is an EMD export. This particular model is on a design from Argentina. I've agonized over this one a lot because of smoothing and texturing. But it's getting close. And yes, the blue one is the USAF version of the MRS1. The most notable differences are the exhaust stacks, the steps and the fact that the final painted model was actually in a commercial livery--guess the Air Force thought it was easier to hide that way!

RE: GA8-MRS1-U50B in the works

OK I think I see what caused my confusion as there is IIRC an EMD export loco similar in apperance to the up dated MRS1,I was thinking back to the Trains article(early 80's IIRC)on the MRS1s so my mental picture of said loco was their US Army service in WW II and their early ARR days.Gary S
