Does anyone have a color picture of theither of these Lehigh Valley paint schemes?
Lehigh Valley Colors – image 1The photos were taken in the early late 1930's, early 1940's. EMD 114 was red, yellow, white, and black. ALCO # 105 was painted to match the John Wilkes passenger scheme. The pictures are from "Flags, Diamonds, & Statues" Volume two, Numbers Three and Four.

RE: Lehigh Valley Colors

Frank,#114 is one of 4 EMC SW1 (112, 113, & 115) units bought by the LV.Note the dustcover of 'Lehigh Valley-2 In Color' by Robert J. Yanosey,http://www.morningsunbooks.com/anthracitecat.html ,which is a stylized mimic of the paintscheme of the photo of NW1 #124 on the lower left of the dustcover (yes, almost impossible to see from the link) and on page 94 of the same book. Perhaps a local hobby shop or bookstore has this book available (Steamtown usually stocks it if you're near Scranton.) 124 and 114 are very similar schemes; however the cab of #124 is clearly gray, while the cab of 'your' #114 appears white - ? Sorry no info on LV's only ALCO HH-600 #105.John RothLehigh Valley Colors – image 3

RE: Lehigh Valley Colors

Same here...I know that somewhere in my model railroad magazines I have a photo of a model painted in this scheme...I only have to look through three or four decades to find it...I did find a slightly bigger copy of the front of that book, but only big enough to see the larger color areas. The book goes for aboyt $50. I found it for about half that on E-Bay, but it's still too much for one picture.Guess I'll have to start going through those magazines Frank MusickMoving America into the 19th Century!

Bradley
FYI the color is called Cornell Red as IIRC LV had some other red liveries so looking for just LV red might come up empty in a search or the wrong shade,Gary S

RE: Lehigh Valley Colors

Cornell red is the school color of the University of the same name.
The LV transported many thousands of students to Cornell by rail, hence the color adoption.John RothLehigh Valley Colors – image 9

That's what I meant, the actual name of the color wasn't coming to me.. I knew it was red, and the LV used it Bradley Linda

It was called Cornell Red...but EVERY single one was a little different..... Never find two the same exact shade unless they both just came out of the paint shop.
