RE: EMD MRS-1 (almost) ready

Carlos,It's great to see someone take an interest in the EMD MRS-1. Just a few comments. We have been operating the 1813 at the Heber Valley Railroad in Utah (website www.hebervalleyrr.org) since 1995. Performance (physics) characteristics, sound, lighting, etc., should be similar to an SD7 or SD9, operating long-hood forward. However, the locomotives were not ballasted very well, so they will slip at Run 5 or 525 amps (whichever occurs first). There are step lights at the four corners (inboard side) and ground lights directly under the cab windows. As for the exhausts, there are only two (the outboard ones) and they are flush-mounted on the roof for clearance reasons. The website for the San Diego Railroad Museum has some good photos, diagrams, "virtual tour", etc., so you might check it out for further info. In order to soften some of the locomotive's angularity and "kluged-together" look, we applied a black and red color scheme (with white Scotchlite striping and lettering) in 1998. Keep up the good work, and if you have questions or comments, feel free to contact me at clacey@hebervalleyrr.org.Craig Lacey

RE: EMD MRS-1 (almost) ready

As far as I have seen, these locos have lots of different versions; This one has been restored and I think it belongs to a museum. The main differences between all of them are the exhausts, while some have 2, there are others with 4 and between them the shape of each set of exhausts is completely different. Later on I'll release a version with handrails and only 2 exhausts. You can see the one from where I have taken my model at http://www.railpictures.net/showphotos.php?locomotive=EMD%20MRS-1
I'll take a look at the 1813.
