New Locomotive in Production

Hi all,Well, since there's now going to be a Cascade Crossing courtesy of Maple Leaf Tracks, I figure I'll give everyone a glimpse of a locomotive in production.Here's another oddball locomotive. SP only had three of these units, of which all were scrapped in 1973.Incidentally, these were one of two hydraulic locomotives owned by the SP (there's another one which I am also currently modelling, but that's another story! ).Hopefully these'll be done before the end of summer.Brian.

And the other Diesel Hydraulics SP had were the German ones?

Yes, the other Diesel-hydraulics were German. They were built by Krauss-Maffei, of Munich, Germany. They were 3450 HP units that could not transmit all the power to the rail and maintenance and reliability were a nightmare. In 1959, the SP and the DRG&W each ordered 3 units. All but one were sent to the scrapper by 1968.

Right you are!I actually had more time this weekend to do some more work on these beasts. I still need to:- Model the cab interior (transparent windows, engineer, etc.)
- Lighting and physics
- Add miscellaneous small detailsBy the way, does anyone have an overhead shot of these locomotives? The only shots I have do not show any roof detail (I'm more interested in the details on the hood, such as fans, exhaust stacks, etc.).Comments and suggestions are always welcome. Thanks!Brian.

Modelling is now complete! However, I guessed at the roof, so there may be some differences between my model and the prototype.In any event, all that is left to be done is physics and lighting. I will call upon the masters and ask for their help when I get a chance.Here's a few shots of the final(?) model in MSTS:
