RE: U50B Revisited

Well, i think the U50B is a HIDEOUS looking locomotive, BUT....
You modeled it very well! One suggestion - do a little bit of polygon smoothing on the nose (not sure what modeling program you use - if by chance 3D Canvas, it would be the "crease" function).----------- BUZZ -----------U50B Revisited – image 18

>U50B Revisited – image 20 If it is built in 3DC, then I would suggest you select the edges of the nose and do a slight chamfer on them to remove the 'sharpness'. The crease operation would not make any real difference in this case as the angles of the scaled primitive look at nearly 90 degree angles.
If its been built in Gmax then a slight bevel on the egdes will do the same thing.

RE: U50B Revisited

I'm not sure yet. I did the U50B in three sections so I could have four animated bogies (could have been done in two). First is the body (everything above the floor and including the fuel tank). I only have minor adjustments to make here, but am refining the textures. Second are the front pilot and front trucks. A few details are needed on the truck and the pilot needs a lot of details. The third section contains the rear trucks and pilot. This one's pretty much done. Most recently, I've gotten away from this as I have been trying to redo this model using GMAX. The original is TSM. This is my first model in GMAX and is going slow. What I may do is wrapup the TSM model and get it out soon??? But I don't want to put the GMAX model down as I'm still learning GMAX and time spent away from it is sort-term learning lost. Here's how a GMAX model migh shake out (very early yet).Dave
