More progress on the EP-3...

including some plow's borrowed from Tim Muir. Unfortunately I can't figure out why the front windows aren't transparent. Parts is Alpha Norm, The alpha channel has black in the right places, etc...They're transparent from inside (same parts with poly's turned in and painted green)Also some progress on Mike Adam's EL2B...I got the undercarriage to line up perfectly with one another and with the front of the body...

But then again...

now I can't get the spacing right on the superstructures, They overlap in the worst way.I'm finding it hard to make time to work on the physics for all these critters. When I do, I'm not sure what I'm doing. It seems so simple, but it ain't.Moving America into the 19th Century!

"I'm finding it hard to make time to work on the physics for all these critters. When I do, I'm not sure what I'm doing. It seems so simple, but it ain't."KeltikSylk,I know how that goes with aligning things. I have a stored copy of a PRR Baldwin Centipede that I have been looking at on how to get it to work properly for a friend of mine.Right now, my solution has been to keep the engine split as three parts in a similar fashion to what you and Tim have done with the Little Joes and other Milwaukee Electrics. There is only one difference that I have used: I sent out the leading and rear trucks as freight equipment, while the center unit (Which also handles the Cabview and Sound) is an engine. Like you said about, aligning things can be a real *****. It took me a whole weekend how to figure out where things needed relocated to, but it got there. Still needs some textures though. Good luck on it though... Need any tips, I'll be more than willing to see what I can help ya with...Thomas Pearce,

RE: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Hi Frank,Getting the 3 parts of the second engine to align correctly, when reversed, was a major problem, I also encountered. I had thought about modeling the second unit reversed, which may be a solution. I appreciate the acknowledgement, but please don't feel as if you must refer to it as 'Mike Adams' EL2B'. I glad to see you're still working on it.Mike Adams

RE: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Before I started working with the undercarriage it did "flow". At one point I actally had two units running together back to back. However the front "engine" on each unit stuck out quite a bit. Now I've got that "corrected" and the back doesn't line up The Joes and the other "articulated" electrics I'm working on are easy compared to this. This is more like the Triplex. The parts overlap and you have to find that "sweet" spot.I'll beat it eventually. Can't help but call it yours, you did most of the work.Moving America into the 19th Century!
