Genesis P42DC – image 1

hello,I have just downloaded these very nice models. Thanks Robert, great work you did !Just 2 tiny problems :
- one of the light is winking when running.
- concerning the aliased cab (Genesis P42DC Cabviews) how could it be possible to have a better view for the driver ? With the 1 key view I see nothing except the sky and the top of the trees. ''regardsEmmanuel

Genesis P42DC – image 4

Hello, after having installed the Genesis and created the right consists, I decided to undertake a trial run on the North Coast Railroad (!!) which I installed yesterday ( as I have a lot of routes, I store temporary on an external disk all the routes I don't use in the present time, included the default routes ). The physics were pretty good, the sounds fine (thanks Maple Leaf), the cab hum... But as I said very nice models indeed
I tried too the lights, and I noticed (for all the 4 engines) when I press the H key for the "dim position", that one of the front center light flickers. Things remain the same for this light when I press twice for full bright
Any idea ?
RegardsEmmanuel

I changed some positions of lights, so I will see what I did wrong and try to fix it.The_Genesis_Man

There is really nothing wrong with the lights, I think it has to do with the shape of the nose. The flickering is usual for all the genesis locos that are available for MSTS. I've tried to fix them to no avail. It's similar with other locos out there, it seems that some shapes interfere with MSTS lights. I really don't think there is a fix for them. That Genesis slanted nose is a tricky pest when it comes to lights.Genesis P42DC – image 6

Yeah, the nose kinda plays tricks with the lights, no doubt.I LOVE the P42DC model...it has replaced all others on my computer, but the one thing I notice is that the lettering seems blocky. The "Amtrak" on the nose and sides as well as the numbers look...well, blocky is the best word I have for it. The rest of the texturing (including the 3 sheets of TP logo) are really good, so I'm wondering if perhaps the prototype lettering looked like this. I see enough Shamus that I should know, but to be honest I just don't.The cabview is fine tho, haven't had any problems with it and the positioning of the view is fine. It really is a superior model, and a joy to run!Blake Harris

RE: Genesis P42DC

Hi Matt,I agree with you. The slanted nose is a real problem with the lights,
Each time I make a new version, I try to change the lights positions, but it doesn't help. The Main Lights of the Amtrak Early Phase V Genesis #60 were are at:
Position ( -0.18 2.56 10.28 )
Position ( 0.18 2.56 10.28 )and the position of the new version # 51 are:
Position ( -0.18 2.56 10.30 )
Position ( 0.18 2.56 10.30 )See, they are more out the front nose, but it doesn't help.I think these two lights are too close and they mix-up each other, but they are at the maximum distance from each other.I will see if I can do something.The_Genesis_Man

Don't go to any trouble over it...it's not near enough to keep me from running them. I know how many hours have gone into 'em already. I was just reading about the Genesis series and the website actually described the prototype lettering as "blockier" than it used to be, so maybe I was nitpicking over something that didn't need to be nitpicked. I tell ya, if we could get some Phase 4 Superliners with the quality textures from the Phase 5 ones....wow! The Phase 4s that are available are good, but they don't match up with the 5s so it's tough to run a mixed consist. If I had half y'alls talent!Blake Harris

Great Job on the P42's with the ATS. Gives the Southwest Chief a more realistic touch for 90mph running.

Position ( -0.18 2.56 10.28 )
Position ( 0.18 2.56 10.29 ) Make the new ones like this.
Position ( -0.18 2.56 10.30 )
Position ( 0.18 2.56 10.31 ) one a little farther out makes them not try to overlap each other, causing really wierd lights. If you think the old way was a little closer and nicer, use the first. Neither will rid you of the problem completely, but it does help it out some.

Thanks for the suggestion.I tried again and even tried this. It improve the viewing on one side of the loco but on the other side, we have a problem as one light mask the other.A problem of Train Simulator not solved and will not certainly not be from them now.The_Genesis_ManGenesis P42DC – image 18
