I remember reading a while back someone posting that they were constructing Metro North M Unit EMU's. Is that still true? If I remember right it was NALW?Any news, if this project is still going, would be greatly appreciated!-rb

I won't mention the name, because the M-1's there were so bad, I immediately deleted them. They looked awful, the sound that was packaged with them was awful, and the cabview was, as I remember, that from the Series 2000 Japanese MU's!! Not the least bit liek the M-1's on LIRR and Metro-North.
If you mean Alex Stroshane, his models where excellent. They never where finished, as they where just a test of his skills, but a cab view was in the works, and taking MNRR quite a bit, the sounds where good. So don't bash and yell, unless you can produce another set that you are talking about.-Alexander NHtrain
I think I know the ones you are talking about. I thought maybe they were a diesel version of the EMU's as they had no catnernary in the screengrab I saw.Just curious, as I LOVE the Metro North Genesis locos and Horizon coaches that NALW put out, as I live about 150 yards from the Merritt train station on the Danbury line. Thanks all for the response.-rb
>I think I know the ones you are talking about. I thought >maybe they were a diesel version of the EMU's as they had no >catnernary in the screengrab I saw. They where the Third Rail only units, or for the more technical names the M-1a. and the M-3. There where indeed electrics. I still have them, and they are great! (just no cab)-Alexander NHtrain
Yeah, so here's the deal: I haven't made any progress on the M-units in a long time, because there were some major changes I wanted to go back and make. In particular, I learned a better method of laying out the textures (the M-1/M-3 skins were all on one 512x512, believe it or not, but looked mostly good except for fine detail) but I also want to replace the wheels and some other parts of the model to save polys. I don't really want to re-texture the whole model, but at the same time I want it to look better, so maybe I'll just convert the textures to 1024x1024. Aside from that, the actual model is essentially finished. The main obstacle for this project was the lack of a cabview. Chuck Schneider offered NALW's assistance, but they have understandably been busy with their own projects. I might have enough photos to put something together, but I have zero experience building and rendering cabviews. I also still wanted to make a dedicated passenger view model, since the interior of my main shape doesn't look so good when you're on the inside. In summary, I could be in a position to release these, but I don't really want to until I'm satisfied with them. Rest assured that they'll be out in time for the Hudson Line route that is being worked on. And hey, I just finished freshman year of college today - so we'll see what this summer has in store for me Alex Stroshane Amtrak Prototype & Model Photos, Train Gifs, and more! http://www.trainweb.org/asamtrak911
I hope you're not going to keep asking that every few weeks...I know you'd love to have them, as would many others, and I wish I could finish them up right now. But until I accomplish the things I mentioned in my last post - things I've never successfully done before - they won't be ready. This is still a learning process for me, and there probably won't be major progress in the span of two weeks. If I don't announce anything, which I probably won't, ask again at the end of June or something...I've got a lot of things that I'm trying to work on these days.Alex Amtrak Prototype & Model Photos, Train Gifs, and more! http://www.trainweb.org/asamtrak911
No sweat, I just kinda misread your other message, I read a little too much into it I guess. I though it was on the verge of completion, ddin't realize that there was as much work to be done as you say so when I see them I will see them Thanks-rb
