RE: CN SD75I

Aye there Bub, we're just finishing up the model. I still have some textures to top off aswell as the sounds to finish. I think we'll have it packaged up by the middle of next week, or earlier. Expect one engine to be 20-25 MB. If we accomplish much tonight maybe there'll be some screenies

Incredible detail! I can't wait for this one. If the sound you say is coming with it is half as good as the locomotive--well, there's gonna be a lot of CN around my place! And it's being uploaded when ? ? ?Great work!!!!!!

RE: CN SD75I

We are just about done with the loco, except for some minor tuning tonight. It may be uploaded tonight or tomorrow night depending on if we get the last few glitches out. It will be released as a new model featuring new sounds, and a 3d cabview. However, it will not come with a 2d or (#1) view as to get the angle of the control stand and window in, it would not look proportional.

RE: CN SD75I

Nice pic Roman. Now down to buisness, we can A. release the model in a few days, and you will have to use the default cabview for #1 view, (dash 9) or B. Wait possibly 2 - 3 more weeks and have a new cab for any sd 70 or 75 with a stand. If you give us your opinion, we will think about it and take it into consideration over the next few days. Thanks for your time, sorry for the delays.

Thank you. I think we should wait for the cab, as I'm too tired of the Dash 9 one. I know you got all the textures and everything, but maybe these 2 photos could help you somehow, at least show how realistic the model is.I took this when it was near full speed:

RE: CN SD75I

For us Canadians and some Americans too -- I would rather to wait till the accurate locomotive of CN SD75I file release to the file library of Train-Sim in two or three weeks. That would be a lot better with a new cab for any SD 70 or 75 with a stand. I personally did not want to copy the default cabview for #1 view, (dash 9) or B onto CN SD75I. Keep up your good work on CN SD75I locomotive.ThankyouJohn

RE: CN SD75I

For what it's worth, my vote is to release the SD75I now. It's no big deal to add the correct cabview later. That way we get to enjoy the locomotive for a few days more. Also, let's everybody test it to see what the sounds are like, framerate stuff, and all that. And, of course, if you will permit folks to reskin it, they could be working on that, too.Whatever your decision, it looks like a great loco, and I suspect it will be immensely popular.

RE: CN SD75I

Aye, we made up our minds, it will be released in a 2-3 weeks, the exterior model and #5 interior is now complete, we just need to make a highly detailed control stand to make the #1 view. Anyways, I hope you arn't all p'd off too much, we thought this was a good decision and a good learning experience for us.Thanks again for your imput.

Ok guys, I feel really bad that were taking so damn long but there really is some valid reasons why.... I'll try and explain, Grants work is really starting to pick up now, (his real work) and same deal for me with school. Not only is it those 2 things alone either, but my progress is hampered by the fact that my monitor is dying and I don't plan on using the money I'm saving up on rims to get a new one . And on top of that, I have to get a new job too , oh my so much fun . Either way the locomotive will be released soon, as said, the right view and left view are complete. I'll also give a quick outline of how the cab will be set up aswell....
From left to right.Your left view will be on the front porch, looking forwards. The center view will be a direct view of the control stand, you won't be able to see anything but the levers and gauges. The right view will actually be the main view, looking out the front window.Just to show you how the right/ front view looks I'll post a pic, the white outline will be fixed on the rails, just a small alpha problem.

Well as was mentioned previously why not post what you have then update the cab later. At least we can play with an excellent model until things are worked out on your end. We'd hate to see another good model shelved.

WOW!!!!!! That's the best model that I've seen scince the Kuju/train artisan sd40-2. Anyway, I see that you said it comes with sounds. Does it by any chance have low idle? I just love that 'chirp chirp' sound those 710 engines make while sitting still. I've been waiting for someone to come up with that for the longest time now. Also, what is your web page (if you have one)? I'd like to see some models and maybe even screens of other models you guys have done. Awsome job guys!

I think it should have an EMD sticker, and plus BNSF is not a very good railroad. (My opinion.) It's #1 or 2 on my least favorite railroads list. And last, it's not Canadian.

Everybody likes the most what he see everyday.
I'm Seattle fan and BNSF is only one railroad in this area (UP also can be seen in Evergreen state). So I collect mostly BN/BNSF stuff for MSTS

Had you tested this SD402 modification: "sd402evo.zip" in the file library.
I am working to improve it more, I think the SD402 is an excellent model to reskin.

Geez, I never thought about this. I sure hope its not payware. That would not be cool. Anyway, will this model come with a high headlight version as used on U.S. railroads? Except for BNSF and a few other exeptions, thats all I've seen on the '70' series down here in the lower 48. A conrail or csx re-paint sure would be nice!

Shall be freeware, for now anyway, if you want to attempt to re-skin our model we dont have a problem with that, just make sure you ask first. Be aware though, your going to be reskinning 20-30 .aces .
Well, since I think we've both given up on making the control stand for now, maybe we will just release it. Me and Grant don't have time to spend with it right now, and we would like to do a good job on it, so we will release it later.
Thanks for understanding, watch the file library the next few days, I'll make a post when it has been uploaded.

Sounds are 99.9 percent complete, there is one problem with them, they don't start until you throttle up once, but after that its all good. They will be included with the engine in this release, as will the partial cab. Now, get ur cable modems ready cuz its being uploaded right now ! YAY! YAYAYAYAYA! Real SD70 sounds? Ok I'll have to keep playing with them.I was expecting to hear the chirp chirp sound that the 710 motor makes when it's idleling. Is 1200 pretty good for poly counts? Well anyway. The units look really good. When are you going to release the cabview?

RE: CN SD75I

My quick critique: First, well worth the wait! I thought the Canadian Motive Power Dash 9's were excellent--the SD75I is better yet in appearance. The detail of this model is amazing. It's easy to say that many, many hours went into this one. I'll be looking forward to the cabview. Now, about the sounds. On my machine, I can definitely hear the 710 "chirp" at idle. However, the higher throttle settings produce a distorted sound--too low in pitch and somewhat garbled. Also, the transitions are not especially smooth. I suspect it has to do with what computer and sound card was used to mix the sounds vs. what card and computer is replaying them. That's my only disappointment with the SD75I. And, the Canadian Motive Power guys shouldn't take that as any harsh criticism--I've played with .wav and .sms files just enough to know how frustrating MSTS is in capturing decent sound. Too, I have to say I'm spoiled. My office is a few blocks from the UP terminal in Cheyenne. I can go on my lunch hour and listen to real SD70's, SD40-2's, Dash 9's, AC4400's, SD9043MAC's, even an occasional SD90MAC (H-prime mover) or an AC6000. Not to mention, the assorted older GE power. You can't beat the real thing!Anyway, all said, the SD75I is a great model, as good or better than anything (payware or freeware) out there. Let the reskinning begin?

RE: CN SD75I

I can hear the chirp sound at idle but as mentioned in the other power settings the sound is somewhat distorted and there isn't much notice in the spooling up or down in the different power setting. In the cabview settings my frame rate was good but on the outside views my machine came just about to a standstill.12000 is pretty high in the poly count.I still love the locos though.Would the locos showing the crewmembers make a difference in the frame rates?

RE: CN SD75I

The turbo whine is,,,, very faint in an isolated cab. When we had the recording set up, the reason the turbo is faint is because the engine was not moving, there was no load agaisn't the engine, therefore less exhaust was coming out of it, if any of you know something on how a turbo chargers work, you'll kno that its powered by the engines exhaust.

To all of you sound gurus out there this is what I did to make the cn SD75 engine sounds sound authentic and not be distorted.I took the gp power cruise_1 file and renamed it to sd75_r1 which is in the 3dts sd75m sound folder.I aliased the sounds to this foler in the SD75m folder.Take a listen to the sound and tell me what you think. Now if someone could work the RPM so that it spools up higher in run 8 it'll be perfect.Make sure that you place the gp_power_cruise1 wav file in the 3DTS_SD75M folder and save the original. You'll also have to open the cab.sms file and edit the appropiate lines there. You'll see a line with "SD70_r1".Change it to read SD75_r1.It really sounds good to me.You'll even hear the chirp sound of the 710 spooling up and down.It still needs work.I'm not that good at working the sounds the way that they need to be worked.Hopefully someone can take the lead and help out with the sounds for the beautiful loco.Hope to get the cabview real soon.

RE: CN SD75I

Hey all, Sorry to post to such an old thread, but OH MY GOD!!! These units KICK ASS!!! I had not run them yet, but an experience led me to get a consist going with them. I had seen teh screens and such, and knew the outside was pretty close. WEll a recent experience got me INSIDE a real one for a fairly long trip. I boarded it, and noticed how nice the cab was on the inside. I was supprised to see a standard EMD control stand inside a newer housing parallel to the rails. The speedo was in the front, and one above the conductors window. I also noted the VERY comfortable seats, water cooler, fridge, hot plate, and a few other creature comforts. This wasn't your grandfathers EMD by a LONG shot! Even had a fairly decent toidy in the nose of her. WEll, we departed, and I had the windows open since it was a nice spring day..so it was noisy as I have come to expect in my career as a conductor. AS we picked up speed, and the sun went down it got chilly, so I closed the window...........MMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNN what a DIFFERENCE! Q-U-I-E-T!! You could have a normal conversation at normal levels without having to scream over the prime mover and horn! We were in Run-8 the majority of the time, and it NEVER got bad on the ears. The ride was equally impressive! I am use to worn-out bolsters and springs, so I get bounced around like a beach ball on the older units. I NEVER thought I would find a locomotive to out-do the ride of a SD40-2, but brother THESE units beat them in ALL areas! And we were on some ROUGH jointed rail!Remember the old black, rounded seaths that you were LUCKY if you had armrests and they MIGHT have a little spring to them? Well the new seats are even air-ride and FULLY adjustable, complete with hydralics for height and such. Those Canucks are 100% SPOILED in luxury! They even have microwaves in some units I hear, although the one I was in didn't. The language is in French and English on almost ALL labels, so that was culture shock as well. I hear the 2400-series GE's are even better...BOO HISS..I'm still an EMD man!My hogger noticed I was awfully tight-lipped about the comparison to my beloved SD40-2's, and had to give me a friendly "See-I-Told-you-so" ribbing. I had no choice to concur.....but I still think teh SD40-2 is THE best looking unit since the E-unit!Well, what I am getting at here is those SD75I models are as close to real as you get. But what I was the MOST supprised with was the #5 key view. I am here to tell you THAT IS DEAD A$$ on! It is too bad that couldn't be the operating cabview!TO the creator of the locos: If you read this, TAKE A FRICKING BOW! Your models are INCREDIBLE! Absolutely-fricking-beautiful!If you ever figure out how to get that exact cabview for a player drivable loco, you will have THE MOST accurate loco out there! Hell, just the time you spent on the five key view is VERY impressive to me.If you DONT have them, GET THEM! I did change my cab out to 3dts's SD75 cab for the hec of it, as it kept crashing on me.....but I would use the default cab and it would make no difference as I spend all my time in five key view!SO THANK YOU for wonderful models!!! Now, I just need to re-number it to the one I was in! Oh, and add a BLE sticker in teh "whisper cab" sticker place! LOL!!! Nuff' said!

RE: CN SD75I

Hey Kelly,
Glad you enjoyed your trip in the SD75I.
When we got our SD50F's & SD60F's they came with desk top
controllers and everyone at work hated them.
It's like writing with your right hand for 10 years
and one day you get told use your left hand today.
The ble asked cn to get aar control stands on all
new locomotives, and they did. The last cn units
with desk top controls are the first order of dash 9's
2500 to 2522. The units with desk top controlers are
always trailed because no one wants to drive em.
The 2500 & 2600 series GE seats are nicer 21 position,
as close to a lazy-boy as your going to get.
And almost as quite as a SD75I
I'am suprised your unit didn't have a microwave in
it, it might have been stolen. We have had lots of
units at work come back with missing seats and microwaves.
All our units have microwaves hot plates and fridges
It's nice to have some comforts of home on a long trip.
The SD75I radial truck do ride extra smooth, i would
have to say the best around. I agree the SD40-2 are good
looking units, i perfer ours with the comfort cab.
I used to be a big GM fan too, but after driving both
i will have to go with the dash 9's.The dash 9's outperform
the SD75's. I beleive GM has gone as far as
they can with the 710 two cycle prime mover.
The GM's load quicker than the GE's but that's
where it ends. With a heavy train the GM's make
transition and the amp meter drops down to 300 amps.
Your not going anywhere fast then.
The GE's load up around 600 amps after transition.Andrew and Grant did a bang up job on the model.
We tried to make it as real as it gets.
I got all the locomotive drawing from work and they
went to work.Glad you like the model, hope you enjoy it. Later!
Gord

It's a very good unti, however if I ran it for more then 2 minutes my system will simply die. Thus I'm not going to include it in any activities, guess will have to use those Dash 9's all the way. So no hard feelings.
