Aug-15-01, 07:14 AM (EST) "Beta testers wanted: for new steam loco sound effect" One sound effect that seems missing from the Baldwin Pacific and Hudson is the good ol' hiss of the (Westinghouse) steam compressor, which is very noticible when the real locomotives are at rest. I have re-edited the original Flying Scotsman external cruise0 wave file to add the panting hissing sound of a steam compressor at work. Also, because it seems impossible to add a key activated bell to a steam locomotive, I have done a sneaky workaround. The new sound effect also adds a bell to the above sound effect, at a strike rate that shouldn't drive you crazy.
Cruise0 is active while the loco is stationary, and until it picks up a little speed, when the next sound file takes over. It is heard only in the external views.
The equivalent internal cab sound file is slighty different and will require further experimentation before release.
Beta testers can get the file from me by emailing Captain Bazza
