Aug-14-01, 09:42 PM (EST) "Track Truck Cab View" I was just wondering if anyone was working an a more realistic cab view file for the track truck download. If so, how long before it will come out? Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-14-01, 11:22 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Track Truck Cab View" Hi. Does yours look Ok in view 3? When I go to 3 all I get is a top view. No matter what I do I get the top view only. I have the modified cameracfg. Maybe that's the problem. This is the only car that has that problem in view 3. Thanks, regards, Bob. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-15-01, 00:04 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Track Truck Cab View" The only problem I have in view 2 or 3 is that sometimes when you try to zoom in to close from certain angles, the camera acts kinda funny, but I haven't noticed any others. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-15-01, 00:15 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Track Truck Cab View" I assume it's jumping because the camera thinks it's a Kiha31 and is over the locomotive. Should be able to fix it by editing the .sd file, but I have not tried that yet.

Aug-23-01, 05:02 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Track Truck Cab View" I generally drive it using the key commands and avoid the cab view altogether. I added a head-out view (on the left side) to mine, along with a passenger view for someone riding in the back. However, the flashing beacon does some really funky things to the passenger view. Sections of the cab seem to disappear and reappear every time the beacon flashes. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-23-01, 05:17 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Track Truck Cab View" I usually do too. I was also wondering if anybody knew how to repaint the model of the truck, becuase there is no .tga or .bmp file, that I've noticed. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-23-01, 11:09 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Track Truck Cab View - repaints.." I downloaded your file and converted it to a 256x256 BMP. I placed it in the Utils folder along with the Makeace.exe file. I went to DOS prompt in that folder and sent the following command:Makeace traktruk.bmp traktruk.aceIt says "Failed to initialize Makeace". What am I doing wrong? How do I make an ace file out of the 256x256 BMP file? Once I get the ace file do I just put it into the Traktruk folder? Sorry for all my questions. I am no programmer! Thanks, Bob. Aug-24-01, 00:31 AM (EST) 13. "RE: Track Truck Cab View - repaints.." You forgot the extension on "makeace", and the filename in the MSTS directory is "US2TrackTruck", so I would suggest this:makeace.exe tracktruck.bmp us2tracktruck.aceThe only problem you may have is that I don't think makeace recognizes any files other than .tga ( targa ). I put Harold's file into Photoshop 5, fooled with it and used this format:makeace.exe tracktruck.tga us2tracktruck.aceAfter this I put it into a new folder with all the stuff from the original tracktruck, added the new .ace file, renamed all the files to whatever, put it into the consist editor, and I got a great Conrail model without wheels! I guess it needs more work. I'll keep trying. Jake. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-24-01, 02:46 AM (EST) 14. "RE: Track Truck Cab View - repaints.." Guess what - I was wrong. When I saved this as a .tga, I didn't have the wheels showing. Now I do:
I need to work a bit more - the custom wheels rotate the boxes in them as well ( they poke through the wheel wells ) Not tonight, though. Jake. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-24-01, 05:03 AM (EST) 15. "RE: Track Truck Cab View - repaints.." Yep, you have lost the transparency layer held in the alpha channel of the .tga file. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-24-01, 10:27 AM (EST) 16. "RE: Track Truck Cab View - repaints.." yeah..transparency will have to be added manually.. Ripping a texture out of an ACE file does not preserve the alpha channel.
I'll see what I can do to take the bmp and convert to tga with alpha..hac Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
