Aug-14-01, 07:01 PM (EST) "UKTrainSim Site Online" Hi!I'm proud to announce that my site, http://www.uktrainsim.com/ is now finally online with its first tutorial.Introductions first, I'm the guy that inflicted the BR Blue and Grey coaches and 55001 St. Paddy on you all! UKTrainSim aims to provide a central information resource for modelers, new and experienced to get together and get the best out of their skills and tools.A file archive is coming soon for everyone to share their work but the main focus of our site will be on a full set of tutorials that will walk you from the very basics of understanding what all those files do to the intricacies of reskinning and even creating models in a 3D package for Wagons and loco's.The first tutorial is in 6 sections and covers all you need to know to get started, making copies of your installed loco's and how to change all the files so that they are unique. How to get ready to build a completely new locomotive. What all the files in the engine and wagon directories actually mean and how you can edit them. Creating consists to test your new loco's and finally some thoughts and recommendations for distributing your work. The next tutorial, which will be quite large, will cover reskinning a loco from start to finish and aim to provide enough information for the beginner to have a go and begin learning through to the expert who wants to get some more ideas. If you have model announcements such as releases or any other news that you wish to see on the front page then send them to matt@uktrainsim.com for inclusion. The URL again, http://www.uktrainsim.com/ .As the name makes clear, we specialise in British railways, but most if not all of the tutorials will be equally useful to anyone anywhere in the world. We are hoping to expand our services to other parts of the globe later, depending on take-up and interest in this, our first venture into the Train Simulation community. All comments most appreciated!Matthew Peddlesden
