K36 –Open the ***eng.sms file. You should see an entry something like: Stream ( Skip ( **** Whistle. **** ) Priority ( 6 ) Volume ( 1.0 ) Triggers ( 2 Discrete_Trigger ( 8 StartLoopRelease ( 1 File( "x_!_whistle.wav" -1 ) SelectionMethod ( SequentialSelection ) ) ) Discrete_Trigger ( 9 ReleaseLoopReleaseWithJump () ) ) )You may also find the same entry repeated a second time further down the .sms file.Check that the volume is 1. This the loudest (my experience is that making this greater than one does not increase the volume any further). No entry equals 1.0.To increase the volume beyond 1.0, copy and paste the above whistle script again, so that there are now two entries for the whistle.Near the top of the .sms file there is an entry like: Streams ( 15Increase this by one, to correspond with the number of sound streams that follow in the .sms file.If there was a second section with the whistle sound, you will also find a second entry for Streams ( 15Increase this by one also. You can repeat this as many times as necessary to increase the volume of the whistle. The same applies for bells in diesel locomotives. An alternative approach is to use a wave editor to increase the amplitude of the x_whistle.wav file in the sound folder.Make a backup before you start!Good luck, Phil
