Another reason why TSM might fail – image 1

Had this problem with faulty shape file exported from TSM recently.
Could not figure it ou, no matter what I did it was faulty.
Even tried an old model an exported without changing anything and it was faulty! That was when it hit me, I had rearranged my MSTS folder and the Utils were not where they are supposed to be. But, I don't have TSM convert my textures and I don't have it compressing my shapes thus it should not have mattered. It appears TSM also uses the txt2uni utility to make the exported s & sd-files into Unicode so that MSTS can read them. This is stupid as it's no big deal for a program writing a unicode text-file instead of an ASCII text-file. Even worse is TSM said nothing about the problem acting as everything went OK. Few people will encounter this problem but hopefully this will help someone.Nowdays I use gmax for all new shapes I make and only use TSM to modify older shapes. Would not recommend TSM to anyone today, there are much better alternatives available.

Ok, glad you can cope with it Paul... I personally disliked the Lameness of TSM very quickly. I guess we all have our opinions...This is another reason why I just don't understand those people who came here and ask...What is the best Modeler?
What is the best Paint Program?
what is the best Route?ad nauseum... My answer will probably be different than someone elses... so who's right? We all use the tools we like... and recommend the tools we like as well.I cannot recommend TSM myself, however there is still a majority of people who use it... go figure... Pete Willard

There's no accounting for taste.
I like TSM. Doesn't mean it's the best program. I learned to work within and around its' faults.
