Maybe some of you oldtimers already knew this, and maybe not--but just in case . . . . If you'd like to have lighting for night switching operations, set up one engine having a unique filename, e.g. "Engine_#123R.eng", according to the following but don't subject it to the Shape File Manager reversing process (which invalidates this code change). You will obtain a very realistic headlight (cone of light) illumination of the cars to be switched at the rear of your MU lashup, like so:
You do this by modifying the "Lights" section of the '.Eng' file, to include the following lines of code. Using this code provides appropriate 'cones of light' at both ends of the MU lashup, depending on whether you want to see ahead or to the rear. Running at night, with headlights on, produces lighting ahead; headlights off, lighting to the rear. With the 'PassengerCabinFile' view included here, attached to the "#5" key, you can move the camera around, using the arrow keys, and obtain a realistic switchman's view of the coupling operation.
